Unfortunately in Canada you can't kill someone with a gun or other weapon just for breaking into your house. You have to be able to prove that you feared for your life. Someone breaking into your house without a weapon is not a legitimate reason.

Now, if you take the advice I gave earlier in this thread about placing a hammer beside them after you take care of them, you are in the clear. Also, they have to actually break in first. If you went outside and killed him you would be fucked.

This advice came from a local police sergeant when we were discussing a local incident that happened where a store owner shot at some thieves as they were driving away. He ended up being charged but the case was dropped simply because the thieves did not show up as witnesses in court.

Actually I should have clarified that you can still beat his ass with your fists, etc., but if you use a gun or sword or something you could easily be going to jail.

The old port is a great place to live just ignor the sketch people, you'll get used to them. If you want pepper spray let me know I have a couple extras
