Nuts! I live in Old Montreal and yeah there are a lot of homeless around, get used to it. I actually give them blankets, hats and gloves in the winter:-)
The old port is a great place to live just ignor the sketch people, you'll get used to them. If you want pepper spray let me know I have a couple extras
