First of all.. what a shitty day... there was way to many casulties at this campus and there is NO excuse as to why a gunman was able to get off that many rounds without being stopped.. I call the men and women in the classrooms pussies for not doing ANYTHING... first of all he had a 9mm and a 22 which mean unless he was doing all headshots they were not one shot one kill.. he DID have to reload.. all prime times to advance on insurgents... I hope everybody who had the "flight" instinct kick in has to live with the fact they stood idly by while classmates were shot to death... from what I have read doctors are saying that not a single vic came in with no less than 3 shots... lets do the math... 3x50 = 150 150 rds? has anyone confirmed the amount of ammo shot?

bottom line is as humans you haved to react to situations like that and running away is not the way to react... all you fucking tree huggers I hope you feel somewhat at fault as well.. because with you and your laws that you try to pass.... there MUST be more trained citizens in our community so situations like this will be stopped as soon as they start...

I was watching video of the cops hiding behind a tree while gunfire is going off inside a dorm? those cops should be fired... yeah I said it FIRED... those shots were no where near the officers hiding behind a tree...

I think it's about time we stop being a fucking PC country and start getting with reality.. criminals have no certian look, no certian dimnear about them... anyone could be a criminal thats why we NEED more trained ARMED citizens to stop threats like this....

lets look at dynamics of a bullet for a sec... by sound alone every officer there shuold have known the gun he was using... if you can;t tell the difference between a 9mm-.40-.45-10mm, 7.62.39 or 7.62x54 every round has a unique sound to it.... I can close my eyes and tell you what cal your shooting... can I name the type of bullet.. no thats impossiable.. but audible reconizition is what all of us who were trained use... you ask any vet and they will sound off at the sound of an AK 7.62x39 because of how distinct it is... cops SHOULD be the same way... so as an officer arriving at that scene you hear gunshots.. you split sec ID those shots and where there comming from.... you hear handgun you know what the lethal range of a handgun is compaired to a long gun you also know what a round will penetrate and what it will not penetrate.. now you may have slight varitations between penetration on a FMJ as opposed to a HP round but the fact still remains that the velocity is around the same on each cal... you may have a varation between the amount of powder used in the round hence the +p+ rounds they are what we call "hott" rounds but the fact still remains that every officer that arrived on that scene knew it wa a handgun and should have breached way before they did... if you can;t hit them they can't hit you is a motto we used to always use.... I think the police force and the school should be sued.. as well as the kids in the classrooms who stood idly by....

Disarming a weapon from a human being is not the hardest thing to do with training... if this guy got away with killing 32 schoolmates wounding over 25 and he was considered "un_trained" now imiagne if there were onle 1 trained person in that room.. or 2 for that matter.. how fast would a situation like this have been stopped?

so next time you vote hippies make sure you vote for teachers to have guns in the classroom and make sure you vote for more leaniant laws on obtaining a CCW

I agree, what happened is so horrible it doesn't even make sense that he had the time to kill 33 people, harm a dozen and kill himself without anyone trying to stop the kid... I guess being a pussy is a new trend, if you remember correctly a few weeks ago, 3 or 4 men were too pussy to help a tiny young waitress lady getting a beating, and that wasn't guns, it was a drunken dumbfuck fists.

My mom is a teacher.. And trust me you dont want her or some of these other teachers having guns..

this is true... but you also take an oath to "protect and serve" and IMO your not protecting anything behind a tree... here they got the advantage of numbers.. and ambush... and they did nothing but stand around.... they NEEDED to enter that building and fast at the sound of the first shot bottom line.... they need to be fired... they littlerally let 33 people get killed.... I shoot everyweek sometimes 2 times a week and for me to shoot accuratly fast I go through 14rds from my 40cal in just under 2.2 secs and thats shooting accuratly... there was plenty of time to disarm this guy.. he had a 9mm and a 22 both are not one shot one stop guns... the best 9mm round on the market right now only has a 87% one shot stop rate.. there is just no excuse at all I feel so bad for the kids in the classrooms because no one came to help em at all

I am trained and yes I am saying that.... you may get some officers that will acutually fire their weapon on a regular basis but depending on the force that they work for they only have to fire a weapon to "qualify" 4 times a year... now in the military... just because they are in the military they arent "trained" yes they all have boot camp but you think a guidence systems controler is going to be the most profecient with his weapons or is the sniper? I know military guys who are very high rank 0-4 and above who havent fired a weapon in over 20 years....

Actually, they did a very good job of protecting the rest of the campus and keeping the shooter from having the option of moving to a third building to do some more damage. Yes, 32 people died. 25,000 or so that attend or work at the school didn't. Under the circumstances, I think they did a whole bunch of protecting and serving.

i used to play first person shooter games, like battlefield 1942, quake, unreal, etc...did pretty good, ask ynotbob and yankstodd ;)

then i went paintballing for the first time, the team i was on started on one side and the opposing team was on the other side. i ran as fast as i could to the tower in the middle, thinking i would get in there and be in a good sniping position. When I was there, i popped my head out of one of the windows for a second to get my bearings and look for the opposing team. when i did that, i heard "pop pop pop" as 10-15 rounds hit the wood right next to my head. scared the hell out of me and i spent the next 15 min panting heavily and guarding the entrance, not exposing myself at all. it was like all of the sudden, the rules all changed and my confidence dropped. i could not imagine being in that situation with a real gun and ammo.

unless you can exploit some weakness or you have some advantage, it would be very tough, especially when in panic mode...you have to consider the guy is competent, and assume he would take precautions to keep a distance from any potential attackers, so that he can accomplish his goal, just like you would

im sure many people had the same perspective/thoughts, its a very emotional issue…its a sad realization that some things we have little to no control over

lets say you were the shooter, would you recommend any of us (unarmed) going up against you? or hiding and waiting for the cops to do their job...i would be hard pressed to go up against you

honestly it's a shitty situation I play paintball every sat and we outnumber ourselvs on pourpouse we play like 4 on 50 and win every time.. of course all of us are frm special forces, and our team commander is a 22 year navy seal and now trains the LA swat team so I mean we all have training thast why we do drills like that and win... these cops should have been trained in this type of situation... shit happends...

kind of off subject but I live in a 2 story house yadda yadda anyways my point is.. I acutually do Fire drills with my family.. yes wife and 2 kids to where we will bail out the 2nd story window we do it over and over again it becomes 2nd nature... you never know when the shit is going down.. weather it be fire, shooting, carbon mnoxide, you never know in this world what the danger will be you have to be ready.. last thing I want to do during a fire is be wondering how I am going to get my wife and kids out.. so we know.. we have trained in everyroom in the house because you don't knw when a fire is going to start...

same with gunfights... you want to turn things from actions to reactions.. it takes training... like you said when you popped your head out from behind the bunker you went into a panic because the rest of the game nothing but pop pop pop pop pop.... well I been playing paintball 15 years I acutually calm down when I am under fire.... same with live fire... you have to calm down, take cover, then return fire,,,, with adrenal glands going nutts you may friendly fire... the most common thing with citizens shooting their weapons is they always dump the whole mag... 90% of all citizen involved shooting they just kept firing and firing even if they were missing.. because mentally they feel safter returning fire... the thing is you have to have a target... I reccomend everyone play paintball if they own guns... and if you own guns please train with it... now corvette...
I was just in AZ last month playing in a paintball tourney when you wanna go play... I'll have you on the winning team with the most amount of kills... we took zombiegirl from fettishpaysme.com she played on our team of 4 or 5 and we played against I think that day was like 34 so 34 people vs us we set it up she knocked em down... great day I wanna say she had over 25 kills and didn't get shot once....

look man, no offense, but if you were trained at all, you must be able to imagine that no one knows what is going on inside that building. Anybody with a head on their shoulders isnt' going to run in there locked and cocked and hope that there isnt' six kids with high powered rifles just WAITING for a rush..

I agree with you 100% they did not know nothing what was going on inside but you ahve to enter to save lives... kind of like the WTC firemen they didn't know it was a terror attack they entered anyways.. those are heros to me... they tried to save human beings lives.... all the cops there did was stand by as more innocent students trying to make their way in life were shamlessly gunned down by some lunitic gun weilding kid with a death wish... at that point your not trying to take a suspect into custody your trying to stop the threat.. for a lack of better words.. they pulled a john kerry during a time of battle Im glad none of those cops are in a foxhole with me cause they'd prolly shoot me in the back from being so scared..... anyone I have spoken with who is also trained were all standing here saying what the fuck were the cops doing... now we havent read the full report and I doubt it will be public anytime soon... so we really don't know.. I know what I saw with my eyes on video.. cops cowering behind a tree shaking in their little boots...

lets go back some years when to idiots help off the entire LAPD with only 2 guns..... did we not learn our lesson then to hit em hard and fast? why do you think they held off the good guys? becuase they were hitting hard fast and strong.. against an entire police dept... that was say 2 vs 200 so your telling me that an entire classroom can't hit em hard? cops can't hit em hard? thats what happends.. anyone ever heard the expression "hesitation will kill you".. well thats what happend.. they hesitated to enter and people got kiled because of it.. it never should have happend that way.... cops enter overwhealm get into a little gunfight, hopefully stop and elimnate the threat.. as far as I see it there is no other option.. he was on a rampage you have to stop the threat and you may have to rist your life in doing so bottom line....

Ok I have to put my two cents in here.

The first thing that stands out to me here in this thread is the defense for carrying guns. When people go back to say that this country was founded on the right to carry a gun it is probably the most ignorant statement that can possibly be made. When this country was founded it took how long to arm a gun with one bullet in the barrel? Remember, you have to go through a whole process just to arm ONE shot. Did they ever imagine carrying a gun that can rapid fire 15 shots? Did they imagine carrying TWO of those at one time? If we were founding the country today, with today's technology, do you thing out lawmakers would allow every joe shmoe to carry a semi automatic gun?? If you think yes, then you are also probably blaming this tragedy on video game violence.

Second, to respond to Danza's initial post. How dare you call the victim of such a disaster a pussy? You ever been in school before? You ever sit down to take a test? Imagine someone opening the door while you are trying to concentrate on passing, which you probably never did, and without warning opening fire. Within a minitue he is done....15 people are hit. Now not only are you dealing with WTF just happened here, in your mind, but you are now looking around to see your wounded class mates, when only minutes ago, your day was normal. Imagine the confusion.

well sir yes I would have donesomething... thats the part of training and turning actions into reactions.. there are classes in every city for people to take classes I belive their called self defence classes.. all you ahve to do is do a google search for self defence classes in (your city) and you will find many many classes on it.. they go from everything from disgruntle worker in the workplace to to blindside attack.... dood there all over.. now would I have TRIED to stop that situation YES without a doubt.. COULD i have stopped it? you never know dood I like to think I could but you never know... you really never but if no one tried.... every interview I have heard they were running jumping out windows, baracading doors..... I have been in both real life and paintball and I would rank paintball the closest thing to the real thing.. because you are still getting SHOT AT... that being said you wipe off and think to yourself what you did wrong and try to correct that next time... this thread is about everyone standing by...

If I saw an opportunity I would have done something. Only if I saw one though. I am a veteran of the first Gulf War and I have seen real "heroes". I have also seen real "heroes" getting killed because they took things easily. They endangered them selves and often their buddies because of unnessecary risks. I never played paintball. I have always thought of it as a silly hormone game.

I might have gone after the guy if there were no snipers or other trained persons available and I was sure there would be more killings.

That being said : I am trained and I have been in real situations. I dont support the widespread of guns though because there are more crazy people then trained people. I am very happy knowing that it might be hard for me to get a gun but it is even harder for them to get a gun. There are professionals and they are called police. I agree with you that they did a shitty job here but I would like to be able to depend on them for my safety and the safety of others.

About the rest.. i find society mildly scary now, because we have so many morals and values and expectations that are only in doubt do to fear and reactionism.

Where i agree with the idea of hard and fast is the best way to go, but is it right to take away the people who do these things rights? That just opens such a can of worms..

I can close my eyes and tell you what cal your shooting... can I name the type of bullet.. no thats impossiable.. but audible reconizition is what all of us who were trained use... you ask any vet and they will sound off at the sound of an AK 7.62x39 because of how distinct it is... cops SHOULD be the same way... so as an officer arriving at that scene you hear gunshots.. you split sec ID those shots and where there comming from.... you hear handgun you know what the lethal range of a handgun is compaired to a long gun you also know what a round will penetrate and what it will not penetrate.. now you may have slight varitations between penetration on a FMJ as opposed to a HP round but the fact still remains that the velocity is around the same on each cal... you may have a varation between the amount of powder used in the round hence the +p+ rounds they are what we call "hott" rounds but the fact still remains that every officer that arrived on that scene knew it wa a handgun and should have breached way before they did... if you can;t hit them they can't hit you is a motto we used to always use.... I think the police force and the school should be sued.. as well as the kids in the classrooms who stood idly by.... When I was there, i popped my head out of one of the windows for a second to get my bearings and look for the opposing team. when i did that, i heard "pop pop pop" as 10-15 rounds hit the wood right next to my head. scared the hell out of me and i spent the next 15 min panting heavily and guarding the entrance, not exposing myself at all. it was like all of the sudden, the rules all changed and my confidence dropped. i could not imagine being in that situation with a real gun and ammo. unless you can exploit some weakness or you have some advantage, it would be very tough, especially when in panic mode...you have to consider the guy is competent, and assume he would take precautions to keep a distance from any potential attackers, so that he can accomplish his goal, just like you would im sure many people had the same perspective/thoughts, its a very emotional issue…its a sad realization that some things we have little to no control over lets say you were the shooter, would you recommend any of us (unarmed) going up against you? or hiding and waiting for the cops to do their job...i would be hard pressed to go up against you __________________ If you need a good company for check writing services, then check out checkissuing, and for webhosting, check out Phoenix NAP Last edited by corvette; 04-18-2007 at 10:34 AM..
