Ants inside coffee machine!!!
For some reason ants just love my coffee machine, perhaps cause it's warm or has some kind of magnetic field or whatever but it really freaks me out!
I think ants really love warm electronics/machines. How do I keep ants out of my coffee machine? I have a Keurig and I noticed nasty ants in the water reservoir. I cleaned it and washed it, is it safe to drink out of it now? It's kind of freaking me out.... I don't have ants in my house in general. I never noticed any walking around or anything. I only noticed them in the coffee machine! I guess they were thirsty and wanted to drink the water... it's disgusting! What should I do? |

My kettle always has ants in it. It really used to bother me and I used to meticulously scrub the thing clean before using it. But I got tired of doing that so now I just use it without checking for ants and if a few ants happen to appear in my cup of tea I just pick them out.

I might have accidentally swallowed some ants in my coffee without knowing it. It really kinda freaks me out because I'm squeamish. I don't really like small critters/animals at all. The thought of it is just repulsive. I hope they float so I can pick them out! Cause if they sink I might swallow some without knowing it. Plus coffee is black so it's hard to see, you could mistake an ant corpse for a coffee grain or something. |

Sure ants are food. Anything that's living is food for something.
Ants release pheromones just about everywhere they walk and on just about every thing... it's one of the way they communicated to one another... ever see a line of ants you just stepped on and notice how they all get panic-striken down the line? That's because they can, literally, smell the panic of ants next to them, get paniced themselves, and cause the ants next to them to smell the panic, etc etc. The release pheromones for everything from "oh crap" to "mm... there's water or food this-a-way"... so wherever they walk, it's covered with "ant B.O." Soap and warm water would take care of that, though. As far as keeping them out... perimeter pesticides work great in my experience.
