Well, there are 35 million African Americans, and 30% of the US population identifies themselves as being in a racial minority, so I reckon he will get a healthy number of votes based on his color alone, despite his inherent abilities. He also has the novelty value of potentially becoming the first black President. Then of course we have Hil getting the female vote and possessing the novelty value of potentially becoming the first female Pres.

IMO, if you had a black female candidate, born in the ghetto, and harvard educated ... I think your money would be safe on her.

In answer to your question, I'm not a supporter of Obama, but I would suggest some of his inherent abilities would be skill as an orator, intelligence (I believe he graduated from law school), and a flair for his chosen profession - given his age which, ironically, will probably be the downfall of his current campaign.

Hey don't forget that along with some muslim exposure as a child, Obama was raised by an atheist mother, his grandfather was also an atheist or some kind of freethinker if I remember correctly.

Obama is a liberal christian, not a muslim. And at that, it's probably more or less for the public eye, Obama acts more like an atheist or freethinker in his defense of separation of church and state and tolerance towards freethinkers. I'd go as far as to say, I bet that privately, he doesn't pray to any tooth fairies in the sky.

It was my attempt not to sound racist by saying Obama will get a large majority of the minority vote because he, himself, is part of the minority, but that in no way means he fails to bring skills and abilities to the table.
