Ephedrine isn't bad for you if it's taken correctly. A few people went nuts and took way too much and had problems. If you're smart with it, you won't have any problems at all. Fuck, it's an asthma drug.

Search for "vasopro" and you should get a good selection and it's pretty cheap.

It fell with others under part of the Patriot Act ... For major drug companies it's part of an asthma drug. By it's self in quantity it's classified as a stimulant that is heavily regulated.

Ephedra is alot more dangerous because it's the natural form and the amounts you ingest via the ma huang herb aren't controlled. If you make ephedrine in a lab it's alot more controlled and safer, safety factor being the reason that it's so popular and being sold in HEALTH and fitness stores everywhere.

It may be used as an asthma drug, im not sure.. but it's alot more common as a nasal decongestant. Sudafed is Pseudoephedrine, basically a weaker version of ephdrine but the effects are still the same because Sudafed comes in alot higher doses.

ephedra and ephedrine are the same thing. ephedra i believe refers to the plant.. ephedrine to the processed form. psuedoephedra can probably still be bought in drug stores, in limited quantities and usually they will want a copy of your id fopr their records if you intend to buy more than 2-3 packs of the 10mg pills.

Congress should be barred from merging one bill into another, they should be made to vote on every single act that is proposed. You can still buy ephedrine. The law is only for its use in dietary supplements. It is legal to sell in applications outside of dietary supplements. You will notice that all the supplement sites that do sell it refer to its use strictly for bronchial asthma. They will not mention anything about weight loss.

yeah, your right. i wasn't thinking of it outside the context of the recent law. washington by the way does require ID copies to buy it. i think there are state laws as well (or maybe just a fear of liability issues) because the only thing sold over the counter anywhere here is psuedoephedra and they are never bigger than 10mg.

i simply forgot that you can buy psuedoephedra as an over the counter drug. as it has been for years... you can only buy limited quanties and they are required to take copies of your ID.

The House passed the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2005 as an amendment to the renewal of the Patriot Act. Signed into law by president George W. Bush on March 6, 2006, the act amended the US Code (21 USC 830) concerning the sale of ephedrine containing products. The Federal statute included the following requirements for merchants who sell these products:

* A retrievable record of all purchases identifying the name and address of each party to be kept for two years.
* Required verification of proof of identity of all purchasers
* Required protection and disclosure methods in the collection of personal information
* Reports to the Attorney General of any suspicious payments or disappearances of the regulated products
* Non-liquid dose form of regulated product may only be sold in unit dose blister packs
* Regulated products are to be sold behind the counter or in a locked cabinet in such a way as to restrict access
* Daily sales of regulated products not to exceed 3.6 grams without regard to the number of transactions
* Monthly sales not to exceed 9 grams of pseudoephedrine base in regulated products

The law gives similar regulations to mail order purchases, except the monthly sales limit is only 7.5 grams.


California #
Bans sale of "ephedrine group alkaloids" (ephedrine and pseudoephedrine) in over the counter non-medical herbal supplements (approved medicines still allowed to contain the chemicals) after Jan 1, 2003. (SB-582 amending Article 4.5 Section 110423.100)

Illinois #
Bans purchase of more than 7.5g per month by any individual. See Public Act 094-0694 and Methamphetamine Precursor Control Act.

Iowa #
Some control of OTC sales (specifics not known).

Missouri #
Some control of OTC sales (specifics not known).

New York #
Some control of OTC sales, ID required and entered into a database with 4 pseudoephedrine-containing products allowed per month per person. (Unconfirmed, thanks M).

North Carolina #
Ephedrine and Pseudoephedrine as of Jan 1 2006 are only sold 2 bottles at a time by licensed pharmacist, requires ID, and signing a form saying you may only buy two bottles per month total. (Unconfirmed, thanks breedlove)

Oklahoma #
On Apr 6, 2004, Oklahoma became the first state to schedule pseudoephedrine, placing it into Schedule V. According to Microgram Bulletin (vol 37, June 2004), consumers are now required to present valid photo identification and sign a logbook to purchase pseudoephedrine. The law also limits the amount a person can buy or possess to 9 grams.

Oregon #
In August, 2005, Oregon governor Kulongoski signed a new law intended to reduce methamphetamine production in home 'labs' by moving ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, and phenylpropanolamine into Oregon Schedule III and making simple possession of more than 300 tablets of pseudoephedrine a crime. See Oregon House Bill 2485.
