I've heard this two or three times. In each instance the webmaster was mailing, so who knows what the real story was.

Yeah, it always makes me laugh a little when they have to read off my domains.

I've used them forever and never had a problem yet, but I know there were some pretty big threads from others here who have had issues.

GoDaddy, like most registrars, are full of bullshit and clueless.

Can't remember the details now, but there was an issue about GoDaddy not liking a domain name (another registrar with an opinion) and there are plenty other problems. Can't say for their service, never used them and would not trust them.

A search of Google will prob pull some stuff up...

I decided to post my comments to a blog because I had to vent!
On December 29th 2005 at or about 4:30pm I received a phone call from the Godaddy.com abuse department.

Godaddy.com:
You did not reply to an email that had been sent and I need to do follow up to insure you send an email to the Godaddy.com Abuse department @ [email protected] so your account is not suspended.

Me:
Is the SPAM an email from me?

Godaddy.com:
I can not talk about it, you need to sent an email right away so your account is not suspend and a person will be assigned to your case to do follow up and answer your question.

Me:
That is stupid, why do I need to send an email if I already have you on the phone?
Why can?t we fix the problem right now?
I do not know of any SPAM to anyone unless it was a post that I replied to all asking to be taking off the email list?
I have a news letter? Can you tell me more about the SPAM?

Godaddy.com:

Irregardless if it was you or the marketer, you are responsible. Are you going to send the email?

Me:
I am going to move all of my domains by the end of the week to a new hosting company! I feel you have SPAMMED me with you intrusive phone call!! I got up from the dinner table to take your phone call and now I am so angry with the way I have been treated I will not be able to finish my meal!

Godaddy.com Abuse Supervisor:
Tell you what sir, your account is now suspend have a good day!

Me:
I am glad I do not have to work for a living like you!

I wrote the email and sent it during the phone conversation, so I did do what I was asked to do.

The Godaddy.com Abuse Supervisor not only suspended my account he took the domain access away as well.
I can not move my domain name.
I have called teach support and they can not help me either.
Here is a copy of the email I was sent after the phone call:

Dear Steve Myers,

The following domain names have been suspended for violation
of the GoDaddy.com Abuse Policy:

AUCTIONSWATCHERS.COM

If the domain name(s) listed above are private, your Domains By

Bullshit. We have 100's of domains with GoDaddy that are adult and there has never been an issue.

In fact, in all the years we have used them, with the hundreds and hundreds of domains we own, we have never had one problem with them.

The guy was obviously mailing...and reading that I noticed his English is horrible, which makes it even more suspicious. Don't believe everything you read. I've been dealing with GoDaddy for years and have never had even the slightest problem with them or their service. Their service is actually beyond excellent. And as a matter of fact, the last time their cs rep called me she even made a joke about my domain adultnook.com.

i have around 130 domains with them, about 40% adult, and never one problem. Sometimes it gets kind of funny when they call me to renew a block of 10 domains or so and we go over names that are all porn related.

No.. It's not my example - it's the first sample pulled straight from a Google search. The reason I used it was it was a typical dialog with cretins.

Sounds like you got some service.

From reading a dialog with a registrar and coming to the conclusion he was obiously mailing and a suspicious mailer because of his English, - takes a lot of clairvoyant capability. You need to check out the English here sometime Sure, who knows if he's genuine or not - but hey, all the GoDaddy complaints can't be fake.

I only have one problem with them. A while back I had a few domains with them and I decided to transfer some other domains I had with a different registrar to them. I go through the process and pay and then a day later I'm told that since the domains are due to expire within the next 30 days that I can't transfer them. Fair enough. I wanted to transfer them before having to pay the other registrar's higher price, but it looks like I will have to now. So I tell them no prob, just refund my money and I'll renew them at the other place then transfer them in a few months. They wouldn't refund my money and instead would only give me credit to spend with them. That's not right. I paid for a service, they then told me they couldn't provide that service and wouldn't refund my money. It was only around $100 but the principle of it pissed me off so I used the credits to buy some new domains then transfered them to a different registrar.

I don't need to know him, I can tell from the dialogue that he is being an condescending prick. Matter of fact, I think it actually shows their excellent service by the fact that they were calling him due to the fact that he was not responding to their emails. Seemed to me they were trying to help him, rather than hurt him. But he was, as do most guilty people, getting very defensive and threatening to transfer his domains, rather than just simply send a fucking email to the abuse department to clear up the problem.

He's a condescending prick as well as an asshole and guilty of something then threatening to transfer his domains?? How terrible. OK.. I don't know him, - obviously you know him better.

Not sure Tony - there was some issued over an adult domain name which was a problem for GoDaddy. "Our beliefs" came into their TOS, but can't remember what the domain name was.
