Hi Everyone,

I was trying to think of something fun to do with/for GFY members... something free... and I just figured it out.

Like every other host we're in search of dedicated clients that utilize alot of bandwidth. Wise webmasters always do their research before switching hosts. After all, choosing a host is one of the most important decisions that we all make for our online businesses.

So, in the spirit of competition... fun... trying before you buy... etc... I have a 'free' offer (#1) that is purely discretionary (privately) and a bonafide public contest in #2.

So, here they are:

IDEA #1 - At my discretion I am looking to set aside multiple dedicated servers, each with a 5mbit cap, for qualified "potential" clients to utilize for one month. This would translate to about a theoretical 1500 gigs of bandwidth. The servers will be adequately spec'd out to accomodate this traffic. It would be quite easy, really - if you already control your own DNS you can simply route to our assigned IPs or we can utilize NS1.SINHOST.COM / NS2.SINHOST.COM (our DNS) to create a seamless test if you switched it at the registrar level.

Who qualifies?

If you do 1000 gigs to 30,000 gigs per month then you qualify. How will I select people? Well, my own research and intuition. If I suspect you're looking for a 1 month free ride only then I'll likely tell you to Go Fuck Yourself. The largest potential new customers will receive priority.

What's the point?

There's a shitload of hosts competing vigorously for your business at all different price points. I'd like to pick up some new customers by showing them they can have the highest possible performance at near Cogent pricing. What price exactly? Well, I suspect everyone has different needs but I can assure you it would be worth considering if you're paying over $1.00-$1.50/gig for your Tier 1 bandwidth, hardware and management (all factored in). THIS WILL BE DECIDED PRIVATELY WITH RESULTS POSTED PUBLICLY.

This should be fun! I am anxiously awaiting responses via ICQ and telephone...

OH, but wait, there's more.

I really want to give something away free to a GFY member - no strings. So, just for shits and giggles... here goes:

IDEA #2

Your own free dedicated server, a true "Bitch Box" for two months to play with. I'll cap your bandwidth at 2mbit so you'll have a theoretical 600+- gigs/mo to play with.

Who can have this? I want the poorest bastard on the board that really needs a 'jump start' to his business. Maybe you've fallen on hard times... perhaps you could really use a boost by having the bandwidth for TGPs, etc. If you're competant and make the best case, it's all yours. THIS IS TO BE DECIDED IN THIS THREAD, PUBLICLY. If you're a total moron or complete newbie you won't win - I want to see someone win that is going to make GOOD use of this... and make some money!

So, prepare for a spanking to potentially get some pipe to play with. One person will win this and I suspect we'll have someone in a few days. I'll pick the person after we all have our banter and explain why they were my choice. Maybe if it gets interesting we'll take a vote or pick some judges. lol

Hello everyone,

I have chosen not to post before but instead just watch and learn but i could not let an opportunity like this go to waste so it has brung me out from the shadows.

I first tried my luck in this industry about 6 months ago, at the time i had a stable job and it was just for some 'fun money' that i could spend as i pleases. I did ok for a bit making about a hundred bucks a week from freehosted galleries with sponsor content. But things got tougher at work and i had less and less time in the evenings and weekends so i had to give it up and concentrate on my proper job, somthing which i now later regret. Three weeks ago my company decided to cut a load of jobs and it seems the extra work i had been doing was not enough to keep me there and i was made redundant.

I was given the equivalent of about $2000 redundancy pay as i had not been at my job long but as you well know with rent and food to pay for $2000 doesnt last too long, i have been looking for a job and been taking interviews for nearly three weeks now but with no success so last week i decided to have another shot at this industry.

Last week i purchased Adult Submitter and 7 content sets from zipcontent and have been building galleries and configuring the program to my needs based on my previous results. I was planning on signing up at cologroup on their 50c a gig deal and try my luck with the tgp game again but seing this post tonight i thought id try my luck at some free hosting.

Now im not sure if i could use all the bandwith offered byyou Brad but i will certainly try if you give me the chance, free hosting will also give me the chance to buy more content instead of paying it for bandwith. It would certainly be a great help to get me back on my feet, thanks for the opportunity.

Well, thats my case for you. I have no doubt though that im not the only 'Poor Bastard' on the board so good luck to everyone else in a similar situation or worse.

[MistaT] - Cologroup is a good company, Jason is a nice guy. At their 50c per gig you really can't go wrong. So if that's your budget for a permanent home perhaps you should start your account there... But, in the spirit of the contest you might still be able to win here.

That's the idea... someone creative should be able to make some bling. On the whole spectrum of hosting providers the value would be somewhere between $600 and $3000. If that were the normal cost... use that to figure out the potential.

Maybe I should say what my site is about to get some attention round here

I wrote a script that would let any webmaster on any server online trade traffic.

This is especially very beneficial to freehosts since there's no extra load on their servers. I recently closed a deal with a freehost, but I am not able to take on more with my virtual hosting account.

This is very profitable and does work... only problem is, I have no server

OK folks, I'll give this a try... A couple of weeks ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis after a $5000 overnight hospital stay. Like many of you would have, I assumed that the numbness in my hands were some sorta Carpel Tunnel Syndrome from all this computer work. It turns out that wasn't the case...

I didn't say anything about the terms and conditions of the hosting, I was speaking in reference to the contest. Certainly someone with such "business acumen" (someone like yourself) didn't misunderstand my clearly written post. I wonder, do you treat your hosting client(s) with such spite and foul language? When people choose their host they need to weigh everything in and do their research. That's what the articles were about and that is also in the spirit of this thread.

In retrospect I would cut the first part of my post and make it all about giving away the free hosting to someone that will make good use of it. Hi Everyone, I was trying to think of something fun to do with/for GFY members... something free... and I just figured it out. Like every other host we're in search of dedicated clients that utilize alot of bandwidth. Wise webmasters always do their research before switching hosts. After all, choosing a host is one of the most important decisions that we all make for our online businesses. So, in the spirit of competition... fun... trying before you buy... etc... I have a 'free' offer (#1) that is purely discretionary (privately) and a bonafide public contest in #2. So, here they are: IDEA #1 - At my discretion I am looking to set aside multiple dedicated servers, each with a 5mbit cap, for qualified "potential" clients to utilize for one month. This would translate to about a theoretical 1500 gigs of bandwidth. The servers will be adequately spec'd out to accomodate this traffic. It would be quite easy, really - if you already control your own DNS you can simply route to our assigned IPs or we can utilize NS1.SINHOST.COM / NS2.SINHOST.COM (our DNS) to create a seamless test if you switched it at the registrar level. Who qualifies? If you do 1000 gigs to 30,000 gigs per month then you qualify. How will I select people? Well, my own research and intuition. If I suspect you're looking for a 1 month free ride only then I'll likely tell you to Go Fuck Yourself. The largest potential new customers will receive priority. What's the point? There's a shitload of hosts competing vigorously for your business at all different price points. I'd like to pick up some new customers by showing them they can have the highest possible performance at near Cogent pricing. What price exactly? Well, I suspect everyone has different needs but I can assure you it would be worth considering if you're paying over $1.00-$1.50/gig for your Tier 1 bandwidth, hardware and management (all factored in). THIS WILL BE DECIDED PRIVATELY WITH RESULTS POSTED PUBLICLY. This should be fun! I am anxiously awaiting responses via ICQ and telephone... OH, but wait, there's more. I really want to give something away free to a GFY member - no strings. So, just for shits and giggles... here goes: IDEA #2 Your own free dedicated server, a true "Bitch Box" for two months to play with. I'll cap your bandwidth at 2mbit so you'll have a theoretical 600+- gigs/mo to play with. Who can have this? I want the poorest bastard on the board that really needs a 'jump start' to his business. Maybe you've fallen on hard times... perhaps you could really use a boost by having the bandwidth for TGPs, etc. If you're competant and make the best case, it's all yours. THIS IS TO BE DECIDED IN THIS THREAD, PUBLICLY. If you're a total moron or complete newbie you won't win - I want to see someone win that is going to make GOOD use of this... and make some money! I first tried my luck in this industry about 6 months ago, at the time i had a stable job and it was just for some 'fun money' that i could spend as i pleases. I did ok for a bit making about a hundred bucks a week from freehosted galleries with sponsor content. But things got tougher at work and i had less and less time in the evenings and weekends so i had to give it up and concentrate on my proper job, somthing which i now later regret. Three weeks ago my company decided to cut a load of jobs and it seems the extra work i had been doing was not enough to keep me there and i was made redundant. I was given the equivalent of about $2000 redundancy pay as i had not been at my job long but as you well know with rent and food to pay for $2000 doesnt last too long, i have been looking for a job and been taking interviews for nearly three weeks now but with no success so last week i decided to have another shot at this industry. Last week i purchased Adult Submitter and 7 content sets from zipcontent and have been building galleries and configuring the program to my needs based on my previous results. I was planning on signing up at cologroup on their 50c a gig deal and try my luck with the tgp game again but seing this post tonight i thought id try my luck at some free hosting. Now im not sure if i could use all the bandwith offered byyou Brad but i will certainly try if you give me the chance, free hosting will also give me the chance to buy more content instead of paying it for bandwith. It would certainly be a great help to get me back on my feet, thanks for the opportunity. Well, thats my case for you. This is especially very beneficial to freehosts since there's no extra load on their servers. I recently closed a deal with a freehost, but I am not able to take on more with my virtual hosting account. A couple of weeks ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis after a $5000 overnight hospital stay. Like many of you would have, I assumed that the numbness in my hands were some sorta Carpel Tunnel Syndrome from all this computer work. It turns out that wasn't the case... $5000 for an MRI and less than 24 hours in the hospital - Needless to say they'll be paid AFTER my webhost, content providers, internet access, rent, and the grocery bills. So if you think I'm using this opportunity to get some sympathy Go Fuck Yourselves. I don't want your fucking sympathy. I sure could sure use a few hundred gigs of bandwidth though I would like to say that if any of you have any numbness, dizzyness, or feel off-ballance more than your usual drunken selves GO SEE A FUCKING DOCTOR.
