Jesus, that'd be like me going on TV and saying "I'm stupid because Clinton's education policies failed when I was in highschool."

Nah, I'm stupid because I was BORN that way. I wouldn't shill for the Republicans to get cheap votes.

My Dad Has Parkinsons. So First, speaking from experience...Michael j Fox is NOT Faking it. parkinson's dyskinesia is common in late onset parkinsons. This shaking is actuallya driext result of the Parkinsons Medication.

I can ssure you he is not faking it...I have been follwoing his progress over the years through the MJFox parkinsons foundation and I know all the procedures and meds he ahs been on.

Living with PD is very difficult and you have "On" days and "Off: days irrespective of the meds you are on. Just becasue you tke the meds does not mean it cures or masks the symptoms...in many cases it will not work at all. As the disease gets worse the meds ultimately dont work.

Although this is not a terrminal disease it si still dibilitating.

What MJ Fox is trying to do is admirable...he is putting his ego aside to help a cause more then a political agenda. If you knew anything about this disease and how desperate people that have it are trying to find a cure you may change you mind

To those of you who ignorantly made derrogatory comments about People with PD (e.g. Gimpish, Human vibrator etc.) think before you open your mouth...if one of your family members had a dibilitating disease you too would be offended. I sincerely hope you never have to go through a situation as bad as this but then again maybe that might help you be a little more human.

With all due respect while I am sympathetic to your fathers plight I do not think criticizing Mr Foxs ad is disrespectful especially considering what is at stake for millions of Americans on both sides of this issue. If Mr Fox wants to make himself a spokesman for whichever politician he supports he should expect those who do not have the same beliefs to not agree with his position plain and simple. Also when you place yourself in the public eye you are going to be under intense scrutiny, for instance because George Bush was once an alcoholic many people accuse him of being under the influence frequently even tho he quit drinking a long time ago, is this fair? So dont take the critisism personally, I am sure Mr Fox doesnt.

Well put...

But its tough not to take it personal when a family member has something as bad as this...but I see your point.

Im simply saying that people like Limbaugh really shouldnt accuses without knowing the details of a sickness. In this case he's off base...MJF might be helping the wrong candidate but I think what hes trying to get across to the public is the important issue..Stem cell research may help to cure a major disease and the public needs to know thats it,.

I hope Limbaugh ends up with some sort of illness, and looks for sympathy. Because he won't get it from anyone...

That would be me. I used both of those phrases.
Umm my current family has no debilitating diseases, though I did have a great uncle who had MS and died from it. I was a wee kid then though.

Now on the other hand I am gimpish, though I am not a human vibrator, I dont get to shake unless it is an involuntary spasm so any movement would be nice but oh well it wont happen for me. I will die young and due to effects of my condition more than likely. It is kind of you to hope such things, and I understand the meaning of your post. You however lost the meaning of mine. Just because one is debilitated or disabled does not mean they can not be made fun of. Hell even Michael started a press conference with a joke about his condition.

Why? Well it does not effect us as much as it effects others who are "normal". We can joke about it, we do joke about it, and so should you. I along with many others are sick and tired of being made to feel even more handicapped (gawd i hate that word) by people purposely treating us more different than we are. I.E. for the love of gawd we can take a joke.

Talent isn't against stem cell research?

He voted against a bi-partisan bill that would have given funds for stem cell research. He is against a state amendment that would protect stem cell research. Not to mention he sponsored a bill that would criminalize stem cell research:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:s.658:

So yeah, he's got nothing against stem cell research.

The issue isn't even really about stem cell research here, it's about Limbaugh accusing Fox of faking his disease. Whether you agree with his stance on stem cells, Fox has done more for Parkinson's and the human civilization than the fat ass, drug addict Rush Limbaugh has or ever will do.

Limbaugh is an extreme. I highly doubt he believes what he says, but he has to keep the fantasy world alive. You have to realize that most Republicans can only vote Republican because they buy into the fantasy world that has al-Qaeda operatives living next door to you, Democrats with Bin Laden on speed dial, and real life diseases being faked. Republicans need to hide behind this fantasy world. They don't want you to see the caskets coming back from Iraq, they don't want you to know about spying on their citizens, and they want their followers to believe that every news source in the world is a liberal media out to "get them".

Now I'm fairly conservative, atleast financially. I don't agree with the Democrats on much when it comes to that side of the coin. But I do agree with them on a lot of the social issues and would say that Republicans are about 50 years behind civilization when it comes to them (I mean they're still running racist ads today). Now I'll vote for any Libertarian candidate on the ballot, but I'll also be voting Democrat for one of the first times in my life. Not because I agree with them fully, but because their reality is not completely warped inside a fantasy world.

I cancelled my cable TV this week out of disgust over this kind of crap.

After watching the right wing talking heads spinning the Foley pedo story when it was so obviously black and white made me realize I am losing my mind and sense of decency keeping up with the crap being spewed on cable news. I'll wait to read it in the NY Times...

Lower hateful mentality? You mean like the whole purpose of this thread? You are right people are getting off on it. Calling Limbaugh, a dirt bag, drug addict, whoremonger, and child molester really shows how open everyone's mind is. This turned into saying Limbaugh made fun of Michael J. Fox. He didn't. Michael J. Fox was using his disease to get a guy elected that voted against stem cell research. He entered the political debate and used his illness to do so. You have to understand, nobody said a thing when he stopped taking his drugs so subcommittees could see the effects of his disease. But I guess that doesn't matter because Limbaugh is a right wing conservative hatemonger, whoremonger, drug addicted, bigot that says bad things about people.

Actually he did take his drugs, which is what makes him move around like that. It's a side effect of the drugs. A side effect that Rush didn't take two minutes to look up before saying that MJF "faked" it.

Why did Limbaugh not say the same thing when Fox was campaigning for Arlen Specter?

I will have to venture a guess.

1. I expect the circumstances were completely different, which will
cause a very different reaction. Could you provide a link to video of his Arlen Specter commercial where he was shaking a lot? I'll keep my mind open until I see it.

2. If you think it is because Limbaugh thinks Arlen Specter is a great conservative, you may want to guess again. Specter is a Republican in name only from what I hear.

3. I don't speak for, or know Limbaugh. I happened to be listening the day the M J Fox thing came up, and heard exactly what he said. He was not poking fun of MJF's Parkinson's in the way we are making fun of his addiction to pain pills, viagra arrest, and having sex with women he is not married to. I listen every now and then, but those shows just make me angry most of the time, and I wanna be happy.

You obviously didnt see the video of Limbaugh imitating MJ when he was running his mouth about it. Guess they made sure not to show that on FOX News last night.

It's hard to see something like that when you are "listening." You need to stop pretending that he was making fun of parkinson's disease, and laughing at the symptoms. I guess they played a loop of it on CNN and put in their own dialog, then showed how well the snipers in Iraq were able to kill our soldiers. But, you are right, I didn't see him laughing at MJ Fox for having Parkinsons.

There is a video clip of it. He was making fun of him. Search for the video clip and you'll see what he's talking about.

Why don't you post the link if you have seen it, so we can all see him making fun of MJ Fox for having Parkinsons, and also saying that he is faking the disease, like this thread says?

Look at your politicians of today. They are predominately losers who couldn't cut it in the private sector. Most politicians have a lifestyle that don't understand what the majority of Americans go through.

This is what I found. I listen to it again, and it doesn't appear he is poking fun of MJ Fox. Doesn't seem as harsh when you hear it now does it?

That doesn't show him moving and shaking. It's just the sound.

If Michael J Fox doesn't move like that all the time, why would they tape him while he was. They can edit the tape, shoot on a different day or time, etc. It's because he wanted to look sick to help a democrat get elected, right?

It shows MJ Fox shaking, not Rush.

It's from Countdown with Keith Olbermann. It shows Fox, Limbaugh, and an interview with some guy.

Democrat elected? He wants to get a guy who supports his cause to get elected. The guy did an ad for Arlen Specter, why didn't you complain then?

As for his shaking, I don't know what you expect from someone with Parkinson's. Have you seen Muhammad Ali? Is he faking to pass his "liberal agenda" too?

Michael J Fox *IS* exaggerating in that ad no doubt about it, Ive watched hundreds of various clips over the last few days of Mr Fox and I cant find another one that shows him tweaking out like he was in that video. Can you find another video that shows Mr Fox spazzing out?

I'm not complaining now. Rush Limbaugh is. He is a republican, so can you understand why? I don't like Arlen Specter, so if he went off of his meds so it would make people feel sorry for him to get Specter elected, I may not dig it, but it is his right to do it.

No, Muhammed Ali is not. MJ Fox admitted that he goes off his meds so he will shake when in front of Subcommittees. MJ Fox does not always shake like this according to guess who? Michael J Fox!

I finally saw the right clip. Rush mimic'd the movements but it didn't seem like he was having a laugh at the expense of his disease. It seems he was wondering why we have never seen MJ Fox moving like this, but now we do.
MJ Fox can not take his meds if he wants, or he can not edit the tape where he is not shaking as much, and Rush can call him on it. That is the freedom of being an American.

Define spazzing out? Here's an interview he did the other day that shows him shaking uncontrollably. He sure is a great actor.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/...n2128188.shtml

The "spazzing" that you are referring to is the rocking back and forth I'm guessing? That is actually from the medication, not Parkinson's. My great uncle had it and the medication he had to take would really fuck him up somedays, sometimes worse than the Parkinson's itself. He didn't have as serious a form of Parkinson's as Michael J. Fox has.

I don't know what you expect from the man. He has an incredibly debilitating condition that essentially destroys his way of life. Did you want him to wait until he was in his best possible state to do the ad? Or did you want him to show what he has to go through on a daily basis? I don't give a shit if he looks like he did in the ad or that interview with Katie Couric, I feel sorry for anyone suffering from it.

The funniest part of this whole thing is that Michael J. Fox has supported Republican candidates just as much if they support stem cell research.
