Gibson Les Paul ... Broke and now Fixed [Pics]

Well, as you all know ... THIS happened to my Gibson Les Paul ... I wasn't best happy ... lol ....

Well, I found out that a Guildford Luthier does fixes for less money ... so I figured I'd see what he said ...

he saw the break and I said I didn't want it re-finished... meaning that the guitar would have a tiny break mark... but ... here's the result...

Price? Gibson wanted £400 .... Guitar Village in Farnham, Surrey, wanted £200 - £300 .... This dude... he said since it was easy to fix (he used Titebond... same stuff the others all use) ...

...

£45

Yep. Fourty Five UK Pounds

It's fixed and fine!!! :D

You can barely see the break mark in normal circumstances... you can see it worse there coz of the Flash. Well, I chose not to have it re-finished. Hell, the guitar has marks and damage all over it. It still plays and sounds great! The luthier said the break had NO effect on the neck at all

As I say, if you don't use Flash photography, in normal light, it's barely noticable!!

as long as the sound is right and the repair is not affected by the tension of the strings - good work!

I agree with you. Most repaired damages affects the quality of sound. I hope it is indeed a good work. It sucks when you have to adjust the strings coz it gets out of tune from time to time.

They glue and clamp it ... the glue is titebond ... it's used to build boats... :P Also the same glue they use to glue the neck's in ... so it's fucking strong... but flexible like the wood itself ...

I've been told it's stronger than the wood now so if it drops again it will break somewhere else...

I was wondering if you ever got that taken care of of and I'm glad it's fixed. There's nothing quite like a Les Paul and I love my '79 LP Standard.

Damn good work..... I HATE to see a fine guitar get damaged like that but glad you got it fixed right.

I knew an asshole who instead of paying me 100 bucks to fix his right like yours, put 2 LARGE wood screws in it.... looked awful..... and actually caused MORE damage by putting 2 huge holes in the neck.

take it to a guy who uses titebond glue and clamps ... if you try it yourself you'll fuck it up.

Who says he wasn't ? I immediately knew who he was... I didn't reply to it because it wasn't a replyable post... or at least, certainly didn't NEED a reply

Les Paul is a pioneer... moreso than Hendrix or Clapton etc...

Les Paul invented Multitracking, and developed and invented various modulation techniques, and of course one of the first guys to hand build and develop the solid body guitar (famously the Les Paul came from this!).

Oh yeah... I knew who he was.

its all good - i was just messing around with everyone but was still surprised that there wasnt at least one person that would acknowledge him.

he pretty much pioneered multi track recording as well as a ton of other shit and things outside of music.

the dudes a fucking genius and cool as shit.
