Gibson Les Paul ... Broke and now Fixed [Pics]

Well, as you all know ... THIS happened to my Gibson Les Paul ... I wasn't best happy ... lol ....

http://www.twistedillustration.com/d...s/100_3413.jpg

Well, I found out that a Guildford Luthier does fixes for less money ... so I figured I'd see what he said ...

he saw the break and I said I didn't want it re-finished... meaning that the guitar would have a tiny break mark... but ... here's the result...

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...fixedgibbo.jpg

Price? Gibson wanted £400 .... Guitar Village in Farnham, Surrey, wanted £200 - £300 .... This dude... he said since it was easy to fix (he used Titebond... same stuff the others all use) ...

...

£45

:) Yep. Fourty Five UK Pounds :)

It's fixed and fine!!! :D

You can barely see the break mark in normal circumstances... you can see it worse there coz of the Flash. Well, I chose not to have it re-finished. Hell, the guitar has marks and damage all over it. It still plays and sounds great! The luthier said the break had NO effect on the neck at all :)

pornguy 09-26-2006 09:06 AM

Not a bad job.

Twisted Dave 09-26-2006 09:12 AM

As I say, if you don't use Flash photography, in normal light, it's barely noticable!!

BluewireAngie 09-26-2006 09:14 AM

Cool! :thumbsup

WebairGerard 09-26-2006 09:18 AM

nice work indeed. enjoy that les paul again! :) I have an '88 Standard and love it.

Twisted Dave 09-26-2006 10:11 AM

RandomNinja 09-26-2006 10:11 AM

HAPPYPEEKERS 09-26-2006 10:14 AM

woohooo looks great!

MaDalton 09-26-2006 10:29 AM

as long as the sound is right and the repair is not affected by the tension of the strings - good work!

:thumbsup

I agree with you. Most repaired damages affects the quality of sound. I hope it is indeed a good work. It sucks when you have to adjust the strings coz it gets out of tune from time to time.

E$_manager 09-26-2006 10:48 AM

So you have played for a long time enough sfter reparation that you can say he did a good job.

Twisted Dave 09-26-2006 05:09 PM

Well, it's two days and the geet isn't going out of tune at all :) I'm VERY happy so far :D

Burridge 09-26-2006 05:12 PM

CaptainHowdy 09-26-2006 05:12 PM

PerrieBelle 09-26-2006 05:15 PM

I'm so glad that you got it fixed...
Now I don't have to hear you moaning on about it being broken :)
I'm kidding!
Glad you're back to your happy self :)

Drake 09-26-2006 05:19 PM

1/10 the price, good stuff. How do they fix it? Glue + ?

Twisted Dave 09-26-2006 05:21 PM

They glue and clamp it ... the glue is titebond ... it's used to build boats... :P Also the same glue they use to glue the neck's in ... so it's fucking strong... but flexible like the wood itself ...

I've been told it's stronger than the wood now so if it drops again it will break somewhere else...

:)

tony286 09-26-2006 05:21 PM

cool just make sure for a while no one is in front of you when you play it lol

Looks pretty good now......

hezochiah 09-26-2006 07:05 PM

I was wondering if you ever got that taken care of of and I'm glad it's fixed. There's nothing quite like a Les Paul and I love my '79 LP Standard.

Dagwolf 09-26-2006 10:48 PM

I want a Les Paul.

And I don't even play guitar.

SongRider 09-26-2006 10:58 PM

Damn good work..... I HATE to see a fine guitar get damaged like that but glad you got it fixed right.

I knew an asshole who instead of paying me 100 bucks to fix his right like yours, put 2 LARGE wood screws in it.... looked awful..... and actually caused MORE damage by putting 2 huge holes in the neck.

ImLost 09-26-2006 11:07 PM

nice guitar and fix

Twisted Dave 09-27-2006 06:05 AM

Who says he wasn't ? I immediately knew who he was... I didn't reply to it because it wasn't a replyable post... or at least, certainly didn't NEED a reply :)

Les Paul is a pioneer... moreso than Hendrix or Clapton etc...

Les Paul invented Multitracking, and developed and invented various modulation techniques, and of course one of the first guys to hand build and develop the solid body guitar (famously the Les Paul came from this!).

Oh yeah... I knew who he was. :winkwink:

Crasy Bitch 09-30-2006 06:36 AM

Really nice quit. man

its all good - i was just messing around with everyone but was still surprised that there wasnt at least one person that would acknowledge him.:thumbsup

he pretty much pioneered multi track recording as well as a ton of other shit and things outside of music.

the dudes a fucking genius and cool as shit.

Twisted Dave 09-30-2006 05:01 PM

;) yeah, I wasn't having a go :)

Good to see people know who he is ... :)

E$_manager 09-30-2006 07:53 PM
