Every country has the right to make up their own laws. By our standards it might seem too severe to kill someone for dealing drugs, by China's standards they might think any country who doesn't kill drug dealers are being pussys.

China is doing a pretty good job with their laws. Look at their population compared to the USA. Now look at the crime rate compared to the USA. Their population is many times but the crime rate is only a fraction.

You know how much crime drugs cause? You ever have your car broken into by a drug addict? You heard of drug addicts rob or kill taxi drivers? You heard of drug addicts rob corner stores? 1 Drug dealer will affect the lives of allot of people.

With such a large population they can't afford to keep all the drug dealers in prison and if they don't set examples there would be hundreds of thousands of drug deals and millions of drug addicts who can afford it so they fucken rob, steal or murder for it.

I'm against the fact that they should kill drug dealers regardless of proof. I don't think it is a crime that merits a death sentence.

And of course I don't think drug addicts should be killed. But they shit in their own pants, let them clean it up. Don't go killing the people that sold them the laxative. Where's their responsibility?

I also believe the article stated they were executing people that dealt in extasy, not just the harder stuff.

I might as well jump in here and give some facts. I live in China and there is a major drug problem particularly amongst 15-25 year old clubbers taking E, Ketamine and ice. You can be sure that the 64 people executed were definitely caught red-handed in a factory manufacturing one or more of these drugs. There would have been no doubt about their innocence and the trials are monitored by human rights groups. The fact is China has a zero tolerance policy towards drug dealers, as do several other Asian countries. It doesn't matter what passport you are carrying, if you get caught in Malaysia with even a small amount of drugs on you, then you will either face the death penalty or life in prison.

It seems most people here agree that convicted dealers should be executed, I just don't see why some of you immediately assume it was a kangaroo court and these people could have been innocent.

Considering they probably earn in the region of US$20 a month the lure of selling drugs is a hard one to resist.
