I gotta quit somehow
I sit here at my laptop (hubby on his) All day...We smoke cig after cig then wonder why our chests hurt.

Whats the best way to quit BE SERIOUS

replace it with something like gum or chewing on straws and cold turkey is the only way to fly. You also need to remember that if you don't WANT to quit...you WON'T. Been there done that got the t-shirt.

I've probably "quit" 10 times lol

Never having been a smoker, I can't say the best way to quit. I never wanted to smoke, but watching my dad unable to breathe and finally holding his hand while he DIED of emphysema would have cured any impulse I had to smoke. Unfortunately my little sister smokes in spite of having these memories, so apparently smoking holds some wonderful magical thrill that overcomes even the worst images you could associate with smoking. I want to wring her neck for continuing to smoke.

Anyway, good luck. Hope you find the solution that works for you!

Those chest pains are the reasons i quit smoking. I quit almost 6 years ago cold turkey.

I wouldn't recommend trying to quit cold turkey because its a tougher road but it is worth the results. Everytime i had the urge to have a cigarette I would did my fingers in my ashtray and smell them. It was disgusting but it made me lose the urge to have a cigarette some how.

Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months and eventually after almost a year i stopped getting urges to have a smoke.

take a walk around the local hospital.
look into the rooms.
see the people with all that crap plugged into them?
look at their faces, look into their eyes.
some day that will be you.

After watching a few friends and family die from smoking cancers, it wasn't hard for me to quit. That was 11 years ago now.

What Spermy said is bang on the mark.

I quit about 3 months ago and found that the hardest part was the oral fixation and chewing gum was by far the best method.

Apart from that, it just takes a shtiload of will power. FWIW - I quit for much the same reason as you mentioned deb, my chest and lungs felt sooo heavy YUK. Feel like a million bucks now and have no intention of ever starting again. Good luck with the quitting

you need to try to quit instantly. Though your chest will hurt probably. If you quit reducing the quantity ogfthe siggarets one by one, you will not finally quit it.
