Things that work and don't work on a paysite.
I've always believed the best way of improving your income is to improve your conversion and retention rate. So tried a few things recently, some worked some did not.
Adding more content. Been buying in and rotating content, over 4 months, works very well. We see the pages the surfer visits before he goes to the join page and mostly it's the Updates page. Seems common sense they see what we are adding and decide it's worth $30 to join. Also retention is creeping up all the time, no big leap but going up. Also returning members are an awesome piece of traffic. Showing the surfer what he will get. Last week we opened the site to show the surfer what he will get, they see the thumbs only from the entire site. In a week no change what so ever. Seems showing them what is on the site makes little to no difference. Strange but true. Will keep it up for a few more days, but don't see it staying. You would think that if one worked they would both work, but it seems not. Need to think harder. |

Adding more content = showing them more content on the tour? What was your question again? |

Adding content to a site works Showing the surfer what is inside the site does not. It was not a question. |

Your "worst rated stars" button drops too low in my firefox version... 1.5.06
Why do you want a worst rated button visable? Up to you, but if I went there looking to signup and click that Ive lost interest and I think with my wiener so you just killed its buzz. Your pre-join page... Put a model there (with eye contact preferred). You're link "If you're a webmaster looking for quality content for your adult web site." Looks like the wrong place to me for that. Why even send them to the pre-join login vs the join page? Up to you. Surfing I click a pic and go to a bland pre-join page vs the join page which is much more appealing. Visit: Paul Markham Content Store" on your pre-join page? Your message board link on the join page seems weird too. Not sure why a leak like that there when your goal is to close the sale there. "1000 sets, 400 models and hours of quality porn videos." Sounds good. I'd throw in a big number there though. 1000 sets = say 100,000 pictures... A surfer doesnt always think in terms of sets so adding a monster "over 100,000 pictures sounds better to a surfer. "Membership will expire in -13386 DAYS" on the top right of your pages.... It's your site, just my opinions... Looks like some cleaning up needs done though. Then expermenting ![]() |

Just ideas... Its come a long ways. It is harder to see when you're too close like you said. I think we all do it in 1 way or the other. All up to you in how you want it and what converts best is all that matters. You're not inexperienced, just new with the paysite side of the business. Its easy to overlook stuff or see things as a photographer vs a surfer. Same as with computer geeks that think all their visitors know linux to join...lol I showed a friend a site once just to watch how he navigated it. He was on page 1 and after 30 seconds he asked "what do I do now?" I said go to the next page... He said "How?" I then decided a big ole SEE MORE/NEXT link was a must since he worked for a major computer company and is quite computer savy. I felt stupid though that he couldnt get to page 2 before it lost his attention One other thing I think you might try is changing your link on the main page. The button that says "Look what you get for $30.00". Basically just taking out the $30.00 and more of a "Look at everything you get". A surfer might be checking it out and before he's worked up and ready to join he starts thinking money with his brain before the boner decides. Just an idea. |
