"Enshrined" eh? Most folks don't need much "enshrining" or a constitution. :winkwink:

They prob might have to pay $10 or whatever for a permit and another lump to a local gunsmith. Problem solved :)

Exactly man, that's what i was thinking about their weird response:

"we have guns because the gov allow us to do so"

is so retard and stupid to think that way, a very stupid excuse..

It's like the gov tell them "you can kill all the black people and the latinos"

and they go and kill them all, and justificing: "the gov allows us to do so, that's why we do it"

baddog 07-21-2006 08:33 PM

They keep the foreigners that come to visit in line.

I am talking about white USA families or guys who have weapons in their cars or in their houses. (Of course, I don't include Militars or cops)

Anyway, why do they have so many guns there? I heard something like 1 gun every 3 families somewhere. It's insane! In other normal countries you maybe have 1 gun every 20 families..

Also, is it true that in some banks they give you a weapon if you open a bank account? WTF?

Is "having a gun" part of the American Culture? (Like McDonalds or Hollywood).

lol i've had 2 guns since i was 14.. mostly for camping and hunting. i go deer hunting and occasionally dove or turkey hunting. so i own a .243 winchester hunting rifle and a 12 guage mossberg pump. looking into getting me a glock 40 also just for the hell of it. :thumbsup

what the fuck is the problem anyway? it's not my fault there are idiots who run around popping the shit off like they are holding a cap gun. i have mine strictly for recreational use.

I live in central florida and the crime here is unreal. We have already had more murders this year than all of last year. Last week a store was robbed by three guys. The clerk complied and gave them what he wanted. As the robbers were leaving, one turned around and shot the clerk and killed him.
He was 22. Today there was a home invasion. Three guys broke into a house. The elderly couple gave them everything they wanted. They shot and killed the woman anyways. Awhile back a guy was walking to get his mail at his apt. complex. Four guys pull up in a car and grab him. They force him to take out money from the ATM. He does without resisting. Then they took him out to a field and sodomized him.

I've never felt the need for a gun, until now. The problem is it will probably never be within reach if and when I need it.

media 07-21-2006 08:46 PM

right to bare arms....

Drake 07-21-2006 08:51 PM

The "for protection from crime" response is more about feeling secure than actually being secure. Criminals don't announce when they're going to rob or kill you so you won't have your gun ready to fire back when you need it.

The real reason is for fun (hunting is included in this - it's a fun pastime for people), the appreciation of holding and mastering a weapon as intriguing and deadly, and I suppose a general sense of security from abusive government or invading army.

dynastoned 07-21-2006 08:56 PM

remember kiddies guns don't kill people, people kill people.

why wouldn't i be proud to own a couple guns? deer hunting is one of the only times of the year i can visit with old buddies that have moved out of state. it is a time i enjoy and is a tradition i will pass on to my kids as well. if im sick for spending time in good company with friends i enjoy being around then so be it. theres nothing i look forward to more then being with those guys every year when we go camping out at my buddies cabin. theres nothing wrong with it and if you feel that there is well i honestly don't give a fuck. :321GFY

New Scientist, 2003: "People who keep guns at home have a 72% greater chance of being killed by firearms and are 3.44 times more likely to commit suicide than those who do not keep guns at home..."

"Among 26 industrialized nations, 86% of gun deaths among children under age 15 occurred in the United States."

Although assault rifles get the highest-profile publicity, handguns are the biggest menace. They only account for one-third the number of guns estimated to be in circulation, but for more than two-thirds of gun-related deaths. And the handguns people keep at home "to defend against intruders" are 22 times more likely to be used in a homicide, suicide or unintentional shooting than to be used in self-defense.

Real hunters who don't slaughter game with assault weapons apart, guns are about dick-swinging. People can have them and once someone has one, someone else has to have one that is newer, more powerful, more expensive, or whatever. The rationalisations are bullsh*t so that the guy talking doesn't come across as an immature, insecure assh*le.

And if the day ever comes that we get a government against which we might need weapons for self defense, guess which part of the Constitution it will repeal first...

Got exactly that advice from a US law (firearms) person - more chance of having your own gun used on you (unless ya happen to be some firearms expert and a master of martial arts) :thumbsup

Tho.. there are other sensible precautions which hardly allow any attacker to even get the chance of using a weapon and that is *much* more fun :winkwink:

Doctor Dre 07-21-2006 09:24 PM

LMAO you just watched bowling for colombine ?
Because it's a lifestyle I guess ... About the Bank thing, it's only one bank that offered that and I'm sure after all the negative publicity they pulled that offer.

potter 07-21-2006 10:00 PM

I love how other countries have this mentality that we all carry guns, and this makes us all crazy insane murderers. I don't know how else to explain this to people, but you shouldn't be worried about the level headed lawbiding citizens who own guns. It's the criminals with guns you need to worry about. And just so you know, criminals don't normally buy guns legally.

People own guns for many many reasons. Protection, hunting, shooting, collecting, etc. I personally bought mine because I went with a friend to the range one time and got hooked. It is so much fun shooting a gun and trying to master the art and become a skilled shooter.

So let me ask you this, why does it bother you so much? You don't see me being an ignorant jackass starting threads like "hey you asian people, what the fuck is up with the bonsai tree, get a real hobby weirdos" Also, Why didn't you mention bow huting and bow owners? They're just as dangerous. And don't give me any bullshit stats about murder rates with guns. Because I'm pretty tired of being lumped up into firearm statistics with criminals.

No way does most of the population of Europe have a "hunting rifle or other weapon" Alex. Farmers and some folks into game, but that's a very small number of people.

The only exception is Switzerland with about a third of the population having weapons - but in reality - 99.9% are never checked from one year to the next.

I know quite a few knowledgeable people. But I am always amazed how you seem to be an expert on just about everything. You must be 85 and read 3 books a week.

Sly 07-21-2006 11:40 PM

The real reason every American walks the streets carrying guns: to make foreigners think we're crazy so they stay out. For some reason it doesn't work with the Mexicans.

If anything Sly - it's just getting around a bit. Ya can learn a lot by travelling places and actually living there for a few years.

Well guys, watch less TV and read more books.

Also Sly, you can start here: www.wikipedia.org

I know it's not normal for the average american to understand how a person can have a high intellectual level. You don't see this very often in the states, since your education system is one of the worse and more incomplete systems in the world. :pimp

I love my guns! :thumbsup

inthecrack 07-22-2006 01:59 AM

I've lived in Canada and New Zealand and never once known a single person who has a gun. In fact I don't think I've even seen a gun in person other than on a police officer. In New Zealand even the police didn't have guns. I've never felt a need to have a gun partly because no one has one. It's a completely foreign concept.

Yeah, that's real smart. Try to paw at the weapon of an armed man. Way to instantly pose yourself as a deadly threat. Moron.

People are talking about "europe" like it's one tiny country.. every country is different! very much like different states in the us.. different laws in different states!

Gun facts:

In one year, firearms killed no children in Japan, 19 in Great Britain, 57 in Germany, 109 in France, 153 in Canada, and 5,285 in the United States.!!

* Every day, more than 80 Americans die from gun violence. (Coalition to Stop Gun Violence)
* The rate of firearm deaths among kids under age 15 is almost 12 times higher in the United States than in 25 other industrialized countries combined. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
* American kids are 16 times more likely to be murdered with a gun, 11 times more likely to commit suicide with a gun, and nine times more likely to die from a firearm accident than children in 25 other industrialized countries combined. (Centers for Disease Control)

Mmmm.. these are some real shit stats :(

When ya consider eg... the US population is only around 4.5 times that of the UK - if the same rates were applied, means UK would have 256 firearm-related deaths and US at 5285.

If this is accurate - and no reason to think not - there is one hell of a serious problem.

Should read - 86 UK deaths of children due to firearms offenses with the US running at 5285
