Of course there is - you can hate the policies of the Israeli government and still not hate Jews - many Jews hate the policies of the Israeli government.

But the title of this post is not "Israeli..." it is "Jewish..." - what difference does it make if he is Jewish - does that make him infalliable. And where are all these Jews who are up in arms - I know many, many Jews and not one of them could give a rats ass what one columnist has to say about the state of Israel.

It is obvious by the number of posts that Montreal Pimp has made on this topic that it has more to do with Jews than with Israel.

everyone here who is anti-israel, are you also pro-Iran, and pro Iran having nuclear power/weapons? Because those 2 issues are linked. And even the Lebanon government has inferred that.

It's amazing how Hezbollah got involved right before the G8 summit, where the main issue was Iran and their nuclear weapons, and yet - it hasn't been talked about at all since. This isn't just about Israel vs Palestine, this is about the whole region. So while you may be pro-Palestine, you also very well could be pro-Iran and not even know it. The interests between Iran/Hezbolla/Syria/Palestine are very much so aligned (they all hate Israel and the US), and trust me when I say the Israeli foreign policy right now is taking all of that into account.

For the record, I see his arguments, but honestly, they do nothing to help the situation today except to stir readers for the newspaper. You can't go back and undo history.

Not everyone looks at world conflicts in the same way they look at a football game, ie, picking a side to root for and sticking with them.

History aside. Do you think it is possible that perhaps these people see Israel as the nation who is primarily responsible for the current violence? Have you read any of the UN resolutions regarding Israel restoring the rights of the Palestinians that America has vetoed? Do you understand the history of Hezbollah?

Or, is it just easier to call everyone who doesn't blindly support Israel in any situation a stupid jew hating terrorist sympathizer, than it is to actually try to understand both sides of the situation?

Yep Mr S - There are moves to get an international force active on the borders asap and several EU countries have made offers of contributing to this force - but they are seeking a stronger mandate than currently exists for the border force. Time will tell...

In a way this is also over-riding the US veto since there seems to be negotiating going on to have prisoners exchanged as part of the process.

Sure ... ironic that the country purveying more arms in the world than all other nations combined, blocked the veto resolution. It's prob better the US stay out of this scenario and drop all peace process words - they mean't nothing and there was no honest broker unfortunately. Even now - there is no country or group of courties - or organization, that stands out to take any lead in this - not exactly an easy scenario when there is no mediator.
