Granted, and it is a good point. And a lot of people should realise that. It could mean a lot less mindless hate.

But, saying that, minimising the possibility by screening arab people is still something that i feel the american government is obligated to do. They are obligated to protect the population of the United States.

If someone wants to go to the US, they should respect that they would like to maximize security. Being screened is a small price to pay to leave a shithole like Afghanistan, and going to a country where they will actually have some oppurtunities to live a decent life.

Im an Englishman living in American under the visa waiver scheme (basically citizens from a few "trusted" countries are allowed to stay in the USA for upto 90 days at a time, then have to return home) - it normally takes me between 5 and 30 minutes to get through US immigration control. At most, getting fingerprinted during this process would add an additional 30 minutes to my time, and would be a one-off event.

If it takes 30 minutes of my time to make Americans feel safer, and possibly make it quicker for me in future to get through immigration, where do I sign up?

As an afterthought can anyone tell me why, if the US Government is so interested in protecting US citizens, the US has some of the most lax gun controls in the world? Is it because they would prefer that only US citizens kill US citizens?

That said...

We knew back in the 70's, that sooner or later everyone would have to have IDs etc.. Most already have drivers licenses. But like in Ohio, state IDs have been offered for a couple of decades for those non drivers.

Expecting everyone to have some form of ID anymore is old hat. Kids must have School IDs in alot of areas. Who cares anyhow?

volante Confirmed User Join Date: Mar 2002 Location: LAX Immigration Posts: 2,940	Im an Englishman living in American under the visa waiver scheme (basically citizens from a few "trusted" countries are allowed to stay in the USA for upto 90 days at a time, then have to return home) - it normally takes me between 5 and 30 minutes to get through US immigration control. At most, getting fingerprinted during this process would add an additional 30 minutes to my time, and would be a one-off event. If it takes 30 minutes of my time to make Americans feel safer, and possibly make it quicker for me in future to get through immigration, where do I sign up? As an afterthought can anyone tell me why, if the US Government is so interested in protecting US citizens, the US has some of the most lax gun controls in the world? Is it because they would prefer that only US citizens kill US citizens?

We knew back in the 70's, that sooner or later everyone would have to have IDs etc.. Most already have drivers licenses. But like in Ohio, state IDs have been offered for a couple of decades for those non drivers. Expecting everyone to have some form of ID anymore is old hat. Kids must have School IDs in alot of areas. Who cares anyhow?
