:mad $2,699.85 in chargebacks and more chargebacks for 1,319.92

I am shocked what some of these people get away with. This guy spent 1,319.92 in live shows on VSCash and charged back every bit of it this month. He spent 179.99 seven times and then 59.99 once and charged back ever penny 2 1/2 months later.

Ok better yet last year about the same time I had a guy signup for $2,699.85 in live shows and charged back every penny. These people should be shot.

Seems like chargebacks are high in June. Can anyone beat these?

It's hard as hell to get any money back because of there not being a tangible product involved... sighs. Best of luck though if you decide to try and get some money back, if you have his contact information I would try the old fashioned approach: Go to his house pretty early in the morning with a wooden baseball bat. Knock on the door (or ring the door bell, either way works). As soon as he answers (as long as you're sure it's him) smack him up a bit. Tell him he has a week to pay back the money for the 'free' shows, and tell him if he hasn't paid in a week that you'll see him again real soon. Then leave =) Make sure you have a solid alibi that night in case cops decide to pay you a visit ^_^ Even if you don't get any money back, you'll love beating the fuck out of that prick with a bat :D

This is legalized theft and it boils my blood.
I had a guy join my sites and chargeback everything, cost me a decent chunk of money in fees.

I really think the worst part about it is that when we get fucked by members, we then get fucked again by the credit card companies who are enabling us to get fucked in the first place.

It's such a scam.

If someone wants to charge back for something, THEY SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THE FEES!!!!

Id go after him for theft of service, or see if you can put a mark on his credit report (if US based) as a creditor.

Are you sure that this was the guy and the credit card wasn't stolen or anything?

Yea there are schmucks out there who do this JUST to do a chargeback later. But then there are legitimate cases where someone else got his credit card information and used it at your site.

Either way, you are forgetting one of the reasons why banks and merchant account providers call this 'high-risk' CC processing.

can't you attempt to reverse the chargeback? I've done that before with my merchant account and won every time, even on services and digital delivery items.

Yeah, that's a real problem. It's so hard to determine whether it's a legit chargeback or not. I mean, imagine discovering $2,000 on your credit card for something you didn't buy. You'd definitely charge it back.

That is brutal but as mentioned was it him using his card? A little investigation might be in order to find out. It worth the time for those amounts.

If they use Bank of America, the bank very well could have called and asked them if they wanted to charge it back...

I know 2 different peole that made adult related charges and had BofA call them wanting to know if they didn't make the puirchases and want chargeback...

It's called fraud prevention. Credit card banks offer that kind of service if they see unusual charges coming in. I've had that done on my American Express card. I've had that done on my CapitalOne credit card. Of course, these were not adult-related charges but large charges in comparison to my average monthly usage.

Now, I don't think Bank of America would ask them if they wanted to chargeback - banks don't like chargebacks, period. They probably put the charge on hold and called to ask their cardholder if this was an authorized charge.

You have his address? Send him a polite, but terse, collections letter. Mention his IP address(es), the name of his ISP, his user/pass, sign-on times, perfomers he saw, etc.

And address it to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Chargeback.

welcome to live chat... thats not about people ripping you off... its about your inexperience and your inability to quickly recognize, flag, refund, block and keep these people out of the system.

then has has to call his bank back and say "you know that long bullshit story i gave you about why those charges weren't mine. its ok... they were. please reverse the chargeback, put the full amount back on my card because i feel like being a nice guy"

its not that simple and no matter what anyone thinks... you have to eat it and focus on prevention... chargebacks represent the failure of the site owner, not scamming users.

Riiiight. Or he could simply write a check for the amount. You accuse the guy of theft. You threaten legal action. You threaten to add him to a porn site blacklist. And maybe, just maybe, he'll be scared enough to pay back what he owes. For the amounts in question, it's worth the 20 minutes to type the letter and the 45 cent stamp.

If he doesn't pay it, at least there's a chance that his wife will read the letter.

hahah... you are not going to teach me anything about fraud prevention and control in live chat. "worth 20 minutes to type a letter..." you fucking dumbass... you say something like this because you are naive and don't know. besides, its been tried many times. companies have been formed specifically for this purpose. doesn't work, won't work. banks are not liable because of zero liability policies and will typically will not side against their own client and take the side of the porn site. police don't care. spending 6 hrs a day trying to scare the shit out of some russian kids in moscow or romanians in bucharest using stolen cards and proxies to chat with their girlfriends so they get the commissions is pretty pointless.

there is prevention and failure. any effort elsewhere is absolutely futile.

Why not a collection agency? It's a legitimate debt. I bet a percentage would pay so that a bed debt with Porn Collectors doesn't show up on their credit report.

There is nothing I can do about it, this was through sending traffic to VSCash. They are the only ones that could do anything about it. I don't have any info on him.
