This has been driving me nuts for like fifteen years. I once read a book that centered around a family with a youngish son who turns out to be an evil little bastard. He gets kicks from torturing things, holds bizarre sex rituals and generally terrorizes his family and the world at large. He also, at some point in the book, develops powers which allow him to control sand. He makes super-strong sand monsters to do his evil bidding.

I am pretty sure the above is accurate and I am pretty sure the boy's name was "Paul". I _thought_ the book was called "Sandman" or something like that. I've also tried searching for "Bad Seed" and various other things I remember from the book but I CANNOT FIND THE DAMN THING.

So, it's a book wherein an evil little boy, who may have been the direct spawn of Satan or a demon, come to think of it, grows gradually more powerful and does worse and worse things, which include creating sand monsters that tear people apart with their bare sand hands.

Can anyone tell me what book that was?

The only book I can think of having the similar plot is "The regulators" by S.King... but the story is a little bit different if I remember well

I have that book. The one I am looking for is much, much older and I don't believe it was by King or Koontz (not 100% sure on that).

I know exactly what book it is. I doubt many people have read it, surprised anyone here has. It is a rare book in that it was never mainstream or a bestseller by any stretch of the imagination.

Dude, that is cold, cold, cold. I know you're curious but I don't like the feeling of being blackmailed. If you had just posted the answer then asked for an update in return, I would have at least sent you a private message but I don't want to start a thread about it now and end up looking like I can be manipulated by answers to trivial questions about obscure books.

I don't want to start this up again, so here's a minimalist synopsis.

Things got much worse. We had a bizarrre on-again/off-again start-and stop thing going and she continued to fuck up my heart and life until she moved out. Apparently living away form me was a moderately rude awakening and after quite some time, she came back sad and apologetic. I kept her at arms length for a long time until it seemed she might actually be telling the truth then we slowly started trying to patch things up. She moved back in, things are mostly pretty good right now. It's been a long time since anything bad happened but I still haven't regained the trust I lost over the course of the incidents. Things are looking better but the healing is nowhere near done and nothing is certain.

That's the short version, the details would cause another 200-page thread and I have no intention of letting them out any time soon.

Anyways, here is the book:

Its a somewhat rare book and harder to find because many more popular books are also named "The Sandman".
