Looking for reasons to justify additional IPs to host

I need 20 additional ips. My host recently declined the request since they were for blog posting and that didn't fall within ARIN guidelines. Anyone have some advice on what reasons I could use to justify these ips?

get a new host? What does it matter what you're going to do with them, you buy them and use them for what you want.

micker,

It actually DOES matter and quite a bit. One main reason is ARIN audits. If you can't justify your usage, that's a problem.

arin will only audit when you request IP space. They want to know if your A moving to your own IP space or b currently utilized what you have been assigned.

beware hosting companies that don't own their IP space will give out what they are alloted, and then they will request more from their upstream and they will ask for justification. And of course get denied. I wouldn't lie to an upstream they will catch you.

You pretty much can't use the old "dns server" for justification you can use the same IP for a dns server for multiple hosts.. a few reasons why you absolutely need your own IP space per domain/host.

SSL, (most common)
Any load balancing device that requires one ip per hsotname(old F5 BigIPs needed this not sure on the newer ones)
Mailserver/dns server that needs a Reverse record, more so applies to just a base mailserver due to rdns.
base host machines

those are the bigger/more valid reasons for IP justification.

Change hosts immediately and only contract to a new host who is willing to provide whatever IP's you want - either free or paid for.

And... let your current host know that you are changing because of this - it's amazing how this helps focus their minds.

I have a question guys, why do you need a seperate IP for each new blog?

I mean from the SEO literature that I've read that would only be necessary if you are linking blog to blog and they more or less deal with the same topic/content.

Otherwise, if your blogs are truly unique, then you dont need unique IPs for the most part. It makes sense to spread things out nonetheless but 20 IPs can easily support hundreds of blogs about different topics.

You are right. If your blogs are not of similar theme they can share IP's. If you are not using them all as feeders to one common site, you can also share them.
