I bet they work very well in the mountains and places like that. and if the person wearing it, is standing still, you would miss them.

i think basically what it does it transfers what would be behind you onto the cloak.. kind of like if you had a camcorder strapped on your back then redisplayed the image onto the front of you.. ( like if you held a big screen tv in front of you and filmed what was behind you ,it would look as if you werent there

what confuses me is in the one video it shows a shot of a video of him moving the film across his head and body and it appears to be like an x-ray.. well if they have shit like that why am i paying hundreds of dollars for xrays

Im suspecting just off the top of my head that perhaps its more of an illusion . like they cant actually see the bones and such , what they do is make an x-ray first then basically "NULL" out the body and project the xray onto the image.. still awfully cool , but not quite as amazing as it appears.

i could still think of a few cool things you could do with that though.. would be great for security.. Like instead of having a security guard standing there he would project whats behind him onto this security uniform then just stand there basically unseeen unless you stood behind him.. or walked into him..

smoke n mirrors smokey.....the second clip is all projection....it appears anyway, the only part im not getting is its not on his face, but when you watch him walk around you can see the insignia on the wall flutter on his coat as if it were projected.....am i wrong?

i do lik eyour security guard idea....but then the burglars will just get the coats ;)

heh well like i said its obviously not exactly what it appears to be , but its not "just" smoke and mirrors , it was a univerity project right so unless they were just trying to get some easy grant money ( and thats not entirely impossible ) i think it has some coolness potential

The part that screamed fake for me was the xray of the head&body , but it also is what pointed out kind of the "real" idea they are trying to put forth.. its not really an invisibility cloak like the harry potter style they are trying to make now by bending light around an object its just projection but an advanced method of it..

If PETA gets wind of this idea i bet they will wrap bears and rhino's n shit in it.. I wonder how another animal would precieve it.

the x ray one seemed like a green screen act to me, not a real xray, but a green screen of a skeleton.....yes, no, maybe so?

What is Optical Camouflage?
Optical camouflage is a kind of active camouflage.

Xrays cost 100s of dollars in the US? I'm living in Belgium right now and over here you pay a couple euros for that. (about 4 weeks ago I had some taken and I paid 3 euros).

Yes they do .. not sure why , maybe they do better x-rays, but i suspect that your healthcare is subsidized ( although i could be entirely wrong about that ) but even the xray=s here are subsidized somewhat
