I NEED to QUIT Smoking..........

something is wrong with my lungs, just went out for a smoke and i cant catch my breath

i have tried the nicotine gum but that doesnt work, i end up smoking while im chewing that gum

does the patch work?

i also tried stopping without any help of drugs, and i lasted about 24 hours before i needed a smoke

this is going to sound reeeeallly fucked up but it will work.

when you feel like you need a cig, punch yourself in the nuts. seriously. after a few times, your brain will associate wanting a cig with being punched in the balls. You won't want a cig after a while. It'll help with that first few weeks of hell after quiting.

keep busy that is my solution and if you really want something eat some cut cucumbers or carrots.. Nothing is like stopping cold turkey.

There are special "cigs" you dont have to lit, they sell em in pharmacies... thats only if u smoke for short time like 2 years max.

I'd suggest asking your doctor. I know they have pills for people who have a tough time stopping. Buddy of my mine used them and has quit for 8 months now. I think it is different for everyone. Luckily for me that's a habit I've never picked up.

This book: The Easy Way to Stop Smoking

And these things: Australian Chewing Sticks

Really helped me. I didn't actually quit until about 6 months after reading that book, but some of the ideas in it stuck with me and helped when I was ready, and the sticks speak for themselves. They burn your mouth a little bit, it's a good distraction, and the burn lasts for 10+ minutes, which in theory is twice as long as a physical cigarrette craving lasts.

Good luck man, you CAN do it. Or you can go buy another pack, it REALLY IS your decision!

PS: Ive been "cold turkey" for 3 months now, and feel so good. I still get the occassional craving, but I also go days at a time without even thinking about them. It's possible! You can do it!

Doc told me if I don't quit smoking, I'm going to have an oxygen tank by 40.

I'm giving serious though into how now. Failed a quit attempt about a month or so back... I think I'm going to have to go cold turkey when I'm ready... which needs to be soon.

Cold Turkey, bro. Cold Turkey works best. It's been years since I stopped smoking and cold turkey was the only method that worked. Also, try avoiding images or movies of people smoking. Get ride of ashtrays or anything that reminds you of smoking. Replace smoking with working out or some other healthy alternative.

One thing tho - I have actualy quit in the past successfully (twice for 2 years a piece) and found that patches worked absoluet WONDERS!

If you're hell bent on quitting then i'd be interested in having a bet or something with you on who could stay off the smokes etc... - not that it would be possible to tell who'd started up again...

the cure is that you need to WANT to quit SMOKING.

thats the secret to quitting. not the patch or gum or etc etc...just stop cold turkey. in 3 days, your system will be nicotene free...after that, just take it one day at a day for 2 weeks and you're golden.

Good luck with quitting! It can be a real struggle but if you can get through a month cold turkey, you're in the clear. Almost.

Starting again is too easy.

Sure... this is my third day now without a smoke, I was smoking almost 2 packs a day. I'm using the patch which has helped before but I always loose it after the third week for some reason

But I HAVE to quit this time because my body is really starting to feel like shit!
