He has objected it since day one.. him and all the other religious zealots.. They think it would make a "legal" red light district.

The mentality of religious idiots is that they have to have it there way or no way. If they allow .xxx that means porn can stay on the internet.. They don't want that, they want no porn on the internet. They want no porn period.

In a funny way, they might just be our greatest ally in this matter.

I know that's why I've posted in other threads that that angle should be exploited. Why not use the sheep to push our own agenda?

All that has to happen is to get them riled up and they will flood icann with protest e-mails and phone calls. If there is anything good about those fuckers it's that they know how to protest.

but can it be achieved only with these emails?

from my understanding if ICANN is going to vote on it, then each director must have their own opinions about it... and i dont think every one of them will read the public comments

just like i suggested before, maybe the most professional messages, with the best arguments, should be sent individually to the ICANN board members too

i have to agree , i said it elsewhere , but posts with "it will hurt my business" aren't just going to cut it , needs to be more constructive , explain why it wont work

i also see "it goes agianst the first ammendment " ,being in australia , and i can't really be stuffed reading it , but changing a top level domain is not going against anything , it's just like a newspaper changing its name to a different name , no where have i read that porn is going to get chopped off, the only thing changing is the name

if isp's choose to block XXX domains , well that is just to benifit the client , if the client decides he/she doesn't want access to XXX tld , then it is hardly harming your business as most likely before the change from .com to .xxx they never looked at porn anyway

Or course if they were for .XXX then they would be saying in a round about way that porn is a legit business. If it's not then why create a .XXX and just not try to ban it. You can't try to ban something but say it's a legal business at the same time. You don't see anyone trying to dreate a domian for drug dealers? Why? Because drug dealing is ILLEGAL. The Bush administration knows it will never get an obscenity conviction if .XXX comes to pass. Gambling is LEGAL in the US and even they can't have thier own domain, but porn can, but somehow it's illegal? Un no, that argument won't fly even in the Supreme Court.

.XXX wil be blocked by DEFAULT. A customer will have to request it and probally PAY for it. Most guys are too scared to buy comdoms or get their girlfriends or wives tampons. They are going to call up thier ISP and tell the nice lady operator "Hi this is John Smith, 123 Elm Street, Dullsville, Ohio. Yes I would like access to porn" then the operator can say in ear shot of all the other operators "Ok so rto confirm that you want access to .XXX sites your name is John Smith of 123 Elm Street, Dullsville Ohio?" Yes this will happen.

I think it will be opposite, unless forced by law.

1. Adult is such a big percentage of the total traffic, so the loss would be greater than the "fee".
2. Privacy is important to get and keep customers, so the default would be to offer the filter, instead of forcing the customers to "humiliate" themself.

To be realistic, filtering on top level would not be quite practical. I rather imagine a software offered that can be installed on individual computers... so dad can still watch porn

Or it could be an easy cash-cow, charge $10/month extra for internet access.. All it will take is a few major companies to jump on the bandwagon and it will become a standard that porn access costs $x extra per month....
