make sure you take your shoes off first so your good and grounded , hehehe

BTW. 110v can be just as dangerous as 220v, reason being 110 is just enough to contract your muscles, so say you grab a hot wire, your muscles contract and you cant let go

220v will not do that,

I will try and answer yours, then I have one.

Is your TV an RCA? I had one in my bedroom a couple of years ago and it would do the same thing- the picture would get really fuzzy or go out, but when I would wiggle the cord around or mess with the back, it would get better (for awhile).

I took it to the shop and they said it was some defect with the junk (metal?) that the connections (or whatever) were soldered with. They would start to break down or come loose over time. They re-soldered everything and it was fine after that. May not be your deal, but the guy who fixed mine said he was constantly having people bring theirs in for the same thing.

Now here's my question- I have a gas cooktop with four burners. It has the automatic starter thing that clicks and makes a little spark when you turn the knob to light the burner. A couple of hours ago the fucker started "clicking" all by itself, like it's trying to light. No gas or anything... just click, click, click, over and over. I took the little caps off and tried wiping where the starter thing was on each burner, and it obviously gets electricity to it because it shocked the hell out me, lol.

I will have to call someone tomorrow, but it's driving me nuts right now. Plus, I'm kind of scared to go to bed with it doing that. I looked for a breaker to the stove top, but couldn't find one.

Anyone got any suggestions???

Open the open and remove the " automatic starter thing that clicks and makes a little spark when you turn the knob to light the burner. "

Bring it to a place that sells the same brand.... they should have a replacement.

Bring home the replacement and plug it back in.

You can't open it. It's all one solid piece that's sealed to the counter top, almost like a thin plexiglas, or something. If I take the little eye cap things off, I can shine a flashlight in there and see some kind of metal box that I think the starter thing is in.

I have no idea how to get to it, though. I think the whole top will have to be pried up from the granite.

On a positive note, someone already hit me up and told me that there is a plug that leads down from the bottom of it and just plugs in under the counter. I had to remove a shit load of pots and pans, but there it was on the very bottom shelf. I never even knew it was down there. I've unplugged it and at least the damn clicking has stopped. I'll probably just go buy a new cooktop tomorrow, even though this one is only a few years old, lol.

Thanks for the reply!

Well now you have a superior knowledge of tv repair problems and will have a career to fall back on if the porn thing doesn't work out.

If you have any problems with your big screen, let me know.

I got the gf to fall back on she is in school for nursing, not 100% sure the proper name for what she is doing thou, I know.. some horrible plans to fall back on the gf if this biz goes to shits ever. Im sure I will always be on my feet with something thou.

I wear gloves, to much work to have all my power out, I have been doing wiring for 20 years though, it's best to get a test light and or meter and check your wiring, there are some do it yourself pages on the net that teach basis home wiring also.

Hi I am an electrician, I didn't read the whole thread but did you solve your lighting issue? If not the red goes in where the whites were and you cap the whites of together in a junction. The red will be your control from the light switch and the whites are your live wirtes. The blacks should be the neutral circuit.

You have there what is termed a third terminal connection which can be dangerous to those who are unaware.

Cheers

Tie all the wires together with some m80's (or dynamite if you can find it).

Problem solved.

I'd be careful because people dont always wire the same. Check the switch, check some other samples, be careful. Kaboom

If white is neutral well your system is different to ours in New Zealand. Either way one of those 2 circuits is live or neutral and the red is the control wire. I am a registered electrician of 20 years and no houses or buildings have burnt down yet.
