The biggest disappointments of The Costa Rica Bash...
 10. Chio didn't show up with a peg leg, beard or a parrot. 09.There was a boat full of hookers, and not 1 would fuck the Sybian! 08. When drinking a can of Imperial Beer, you don't look that cool since it resembles a can of YooHoo. 07. The natives only speak English if there is a money discrepency...And then they all of a sudden speak it very fluent! 06. Let's just say that a $6.00 filet mignon usually resembled something you'd get with a $0.99 steak and eggs breakfast in Vegas. 05. Spanish keyboards on the public computers. I searched for the @ sign for 3 hours to no avail! 04. There were maybe 5 english speaking stations on the TV...And those were Spanish subtitled! Now I know how the Spanish feel in America with only 1 Telemundo! 03. Taxi fares are up to the drivers discretion. It's amazing how a once $2 ride is now $20! 02. For some reason, every girl that talked to me wanted money... I wonder why? and... 01. It's a full year until the next Costa Rica Bash! What a great show everybody! The sponsors lined up some great events, the show was nice and intimate and I felt safe 100% of the time. New friendships were made and old ones were cemented, I was able to witness a different culture first hand and the accomidations were great (the Villas in Jaco were amazing)! Cheers all and I can't wait until next year. |

You should have showed us! We actually did see quite a bit of Costa Rica (the cities we were in at least) and we only hit the Del Ray twice. It's just odd for me to see a ton of girls and it seemed like every one was looking for money from people.

 | I feel ya, brother. It's hard to stay focused on the true *top line* at these shows when there are so many little nippers and gawkers. Karma keeps her own tally. She'll share her math with us when she's ready -- lol For me personally, the net is always *up* if at the end I gave more than I got. As I recently learned from so many great folks in CR, Pura Vida is Good For Business --

 | There is one thing I really did not understand... Ok, I go somewhere and everyone speaks a different language. As I keep hearing more and more I start picking up on little phrases or I can at least put together what is being said. All through repetition. I ordered the same drink, all day, every day... and the dudes still had a hard time understanding what I was saying! Listen chico! "Jack and Coke" means "Jack Daniels y Coca Cola" just like the other 50 times I ordered it! Oh, and another thing... it would be plainly established that I didn't know Spanish and the other person didn't know English, yet they would still try and have full conversations with me speaking at regular pace. What the hell?! I don't know Spanish! Just smile and nod! Now I have my mind set to learning Spanish. This should be interesting, hehe.

Luckilly acting like you don't understand a thing can come in handy at times. What I don't understand is how a person can move to a country with a different language, and not want to learn how to speak it. If I lives in CR, I'd be damned if I didn't take the time to learn how to speak!

 | Dude I had 3 years of Spanish and I was completely lost. I could understand maybe 40% if they talked slowly, I would listen for key words that I knew and then try to guess what they were saying. Fuck if I knew how to reply. Then here's the kicker. On the way home Monday I'm sitting in the airport headbanging to Slayer on my MP3 player and suddenly all of my high school Spanish started kicking in. I wanted to shoot myself. Three days earlier would have been much more convenient!

 | Might as well opine about the filet mignon thing. From personal experience I found that it has nothing to do with the cuts of meats available, but the restaurant chefs being totally unable to cook a good steak or the restaurant being totally incompetent at picking a good cut. For 2 bucks at a supermarket you can get a massively thick bacon-wrapped filet mignon to season and throw on the grill. Now that's a piece of meat! |
