I ordered the same drink, all day, every day... and the dudes still had a hard time understanding what I was saying! Listen chico! "Jack and Coke" means "Jack Daniels y Coca Cola" just like the other 50 times I ordered it!
Oh, and another thing... it would be plainly established that I didn't know Spanish and the other person didn't know English, yet they would still try and have full conversations with me speaking at regular pace. What the hell?! I don't know Spanish! Just smile and nod!
Now I have my mind set to learning Spanish. This should be interesting, hehe.

hahahah! I was thinking the same thing. Thank God I had 2 years of spanish in HS that gave me enough fundamentals to understand 1/3 of the locals...I just didn't know how to reply!
Luckilly acting like you don't understand a thing can come in handy at times. What I don't understand is how a person can move to a country with a different language, and not want to learn how to speak it. If I lives in CR, I'd be damned if I didn't take the time to learn how to speak!
