Your opinions please (ladies especialy!)

So I'm cooking dinner this evening for a very special guest and I am curious; what do you think of the following:

Oysters rockefeller followed by;
Beef Chateaubriand & a Maitre'D Hotel Sauce mixed with a white sauce (veloute)
complimented by;
Potatoes Souffle

Desert's another story for another time, but I expect it to include whipped cream and caramel ;)

Sounds delicious. Medium rare, I hope, for the meat.

Add some creme brulee before the after dinner festivities, involving the caramel and cream...and you've got a winner!

oysters rockefeller is a preffered taste, I have cooked the dish many times but I would never eat it, the rockefeller sauce could be good on something else but the oysters i just dont do....do you know that your guest likes oysters? if so, nice aphrodesiac....

I personally would have gone with chicken picatta or my own personal chicken parmesan....its a lil different and better than most traditional chicken parmesan plates.....

I just made an awesome strawberry sauce out of the juice of 2 1/2 pounds of strawberries.....made somewhat of a carmelized sauce....perfect for dipping fresh strawberries into, coating with sugar......Ive seen girls' panties hit the floor simultaneously as the sweet juice of the strawberry slides down their throat....You should have that for dessert too ;)

Sounds like a nice meal and you'll get serious bonus points for cooking it yourself. BUT, you're setting yourself up for future problems.

Assuming this is a first date type of thing, the problem begins the NEXT time you have her over for dinner. Her expectations will be very high, so if you pull out the Hamburger Helper, the impression you made with the first meal will be a distant memory.

Most women's expectations are already high, why increase the bar? That's why you should keep first dates simple and NEVER cook yourself (Again, assuming this is a first date).

Which does raise the question...how special is this guest?

And, what wine have you chosen?

Also, will there be champagne and strawberries? For the caramel and whipped cream act?

And, perhaps a nice walk to shake off the heaviness of the meal....before the extra curricular activities, so the special guest doesn't fall asleep in the whipped cream part of the evening's activities.

Might want to switch to salmon with a light crab sauce, served with asparagus and salad....

Thanks for proving my point Raven.

Here this guy is cooking you a great meal, and the first question is will there be MORE (Champagne).

AND you want a break between the meal and the extra curricular activies?

Sorry. If I cooked my wife a meal like that WITHOUT the champagne, she better be getting her ass lubed up before dessert hits the table even. Then take a break to do the dishes and come back for more of whatever I want.

just make sure that the food matches you. You in a baseball hat, and living in a camper, will fail to make the proper impression, other than you sold the truck, and ordered out.

Hell, sweets, I'm just trying to get this guy laid....nothing more, nothing less.

As I thought about the heaviness of the meal, it seems easier to grill a salmon filet than it is to cook chateaubriand. See? I'm not being demanding...I'm strategising for him.....

If he serves meat, she'll be feeling the effects and that certainly won't get him his after dinner plan with caramel and whipped cream and we all know what THAT means...

As to the champagne, it kind of goes with the meal he's got planned..and, if you served your wife champagne, she can pour it on your cock and lick it off as you eat strawberries.

It sounds like you're trying really hard to make her a nice meal, but have you asked what she likes? Alot of people aren't big on oysters and alot of women don't eat meat. If you don't know her tastes really well, you may want to go with some safer foods.

Other than that, it sounds like a great meal. I'm sure she will be impressed.

Thanks for all the feedback; to answer a couple of the questions:

She loves oysters rockefeller
Im definately steeling the champaign and strawberry's idea
She's cooking next time and its a little bit of a competition which is why I'm going a little over the top
And I've got a nice cabernet for with dinner

Deej: hook up your recipe for the strawbery sauce!

I kind of thought you'd go for that! Makes for a great 'before dessert', 'after dinner' exercise to work off that meal!

tie the beef up with slices of bacon before you bake it. You can remove the
bacon when done....or leave it. It gives a very nice taste to beef, way better
than salt
