Two for you:
In Texas, can a man marry his widow's sister? If a US plane crashes on the border between the US and Canada, where should the survivors be buried? |
an old wizened man lives in very large apartment tower in the city.. on sunny days when he gets back from his walk he catches the elevator half way up the building then gets out and trudges up the steps to his floor at the top.. however when the weather is horrible and wet he catches the elevator all the way up to the top... why?

A snake. "In Texas, can a man marry his widow's sister?" No because he'd be dead... "an old wizened man lives in very large apartment tower in the city.. on sunny days when he gets back from his walk he catches the elevator half way up the building then gets out and trudges up the steps to his floor at the top.. however when the weather is horrible and wet he catches the elevator all the way up to the top... why?" Working on it... |
Yup...it was a snake.

you have 9 coins. one of them is counterfeit and it's heavier then the other ones. and you have scales ..
what is the minimum number of tries you need to determine the counterfeit coin? |
LOL :)
I'm stumped on that other one... |
Night and Day......*grumble*
Poor men have it... Rich men want it... It can fill a hole... It is greater than God... You have to kinda believe in god to get this one... |
Basically I figure you'd have to split the coins into piles and put a pile on each side...I think it could be done in 5 tries...
Unless you're using a single sided scale...then it throws my figuring off... |
Quote:
ok..about the coins....providing it's not a single-sided scale, you could do it in 3 times by placing 4 of the coins in each scale leaving the 9th one on the table to see which side is heaviest...if they're even then you know the coin on the table is counterfeit, if they're heavier and one side isn't even then you take those 4 coins and weigh them one against the each other for a maximum total of 2 times (1 coin for each side). Did that make sense? LOL |
duh...
A man and his son are riding along in a car and get into a terrible accident, the father dies, the son is taken to the hospital. The doctor that is working that night says: "I cant operate that man, because he is my son." how is that possible? [/B][/QUOTE] Duhh It's his Mom..... Either that or his other Gay Dad!! IF A RED HOUSE IS MADE FROM RED BRICKS, A BLUE HOUSE IS MADE OUT OF BLUE BRICKS, A PINK HOUSE IS MADE OUT OF PINK BRICKS, A BLACK HOUSE IS MADE OUT OF BLACK BRICKS....WHAT IS A GREEN HOUSE MADE OUT OF? |

In a stable there are men and horses. In all, there are 22 heads and 72 feet. How many men and how many horses are in the stable? |
There are 9 horses and 13 men.
9 x 4 (feet per horse) = 36 13 x 2 (feet per man) = 26 Total occupants of stable = 22 Total Feet = 72 |
IF ON A CLOCK THE HOUR HAND MOVES 1/60th
OF A DEGREE EVERY MINUTE THEN HOW MANY DEGREES WILL THE HOUR HAND TRAVEL IN 1 HOUR? |
Quote:
unlogically the answer is one, but you have to have a hell of a lot of luck bunky |
Quote:
14 horses and 8 men. 14 x 4 (feet per horse) = 56 8 x 2 (feet per man) = 16 Total occupants = 22 Total Feet = 56+16 = 72 |

one degree...these math ones are too easy...
|
Quote:
i think it would take more...you leave too many variables by adding for at a time...I think 2 per side you could do it in 5... |

the one with the coins still unsolved!
it's double-sided-scale |
this thread is worn out

jreaka,
So is your asshole... NetRodent, that one involved 10 coins... |

The answer is 3 tries. Heres how you do it. 1st try: take 8 coins and put 4 on each side. If it balances out even you did it in one shot, the ninth coin is the counterfit. If not. 2nd try: Take the 4 coins on the heavier side and divide them up 2 on each side. 3rd try: take the 2 coins on the heavier side and put 1 on each side. The heavier one is counterfit. :BangBang: Don't try me :Graucho |
