I Will NEVER Use Epassporte as My Payment Method Again...

Ok, so here's the story..

Someone paid me thru Epassporte for $469

Received the payment. But a few days after. The $469 was send back to the sender (as reflected on my Epass Acct Statement)

I called Epass Support (No toll free outside US so I made an overseas call) and found out that the person who has send the fund uses a hacked credit card and that Epassporte is the one responsible to the deduction on my account. They said that the money that was sent to me was send back to the person who owns the credit card. They didn't even inform me about this. So, If I did not called them, I will never know what happened with the fund that was deducted in my account. Damn.. Just like that, they can take away your money without even letting you know why they did.

$469 is $469.. I didn't just ask for that money. I worked for it and besides, they're the one that should be responsible for the security and safety of their system.

Well, I guess it's too late for that money to go back into my account right now. So.. I just want to say that from now on.. I will never accept payment thru Epassporte and will never leave any money in my account from them.

I don't see why you should blame Epass for this? Fraud happens in many facets, including paper denominations. Counter methods are constantly being worked on with anti-fraud software, but nothing is perfect.

If I were you, I would look over the past transaction and learn from it. Sorry it happened to you, but it really is a cost of doing business more than anything.

Hope you find a way to resolve the issue.

I got hit by a fradulent transaction on Paypal years ago(back when it was x.com) and ended up eating almost $1800. I still use Paypal today. Granted, taking 5 minutes to login to Epassporte sucks, but I'll still use them as they are cheaper then Paypal.

Whoa people... get a clue please. This is common practice for a biller/processor to reverse the charge in your account when it's fraudulent. It's called a chargeback - and saying that Epass should get a verification system in place if quite funny when they probably have the best one in the industry.

By accepting any kind of payments from an IPSP, your own merchant account, Paypal, Epass, etc... you expose yourself to chargebacks. This is knowed and it happens all the time. Just writte it off, like every paysite owners do with the chargebacks as well... this ain't different.

Wtf did you think happened? It failed obviously - like it fails less than 1% of the time for every major processor in the industry. You guys are making big drama out of nothing really.

You can't always tell. No one should fault you for getting scammed, that happens to everyone.

I just don't understand blaming Epass for doing what any processor or bank would do.

Well if you're worried about this, then just don't do business. Because this shit happens all the time with every single processors - it even happens irl with fraudulent checks and what not.

What do you expect Epass or any processor to do when someone is using a stolen CC that hasn't been reported stolen - there is no way for nobody to know that the card is fraudulent. Epass like every other processors are using top-notch fraud scrubbing system and will catch a lot of fraudulent transactions and adult processors are better at doing this than any other online processors.

Shit happens, it sucks... write it off and move on.

Here is even more fucked up situation that happened to my account :

Some asshole sent me $$$ from a hacked account . The same day I was making a payment to someone else . As a result they blocked my account and account of the guy who I sent money to as well. Was trying to resolve the problem for several months and then just gave up and erased the word ePassport from my vocabulary .

Here is a big "Thank You " to ePassport crew :

I agree that E-pass has been having a lot of issues lately. But the only thing that E-pass should have done was put an e-mail in your account explaining why they took the money back. It is not thier fault that the guy used a stolen card, and as soon as they found out, it seems that they did the correct security thing, and returned the money.

Dont totally slam e-=ass on this.

You could keep accepting it, but not delivering until the money is CLEARED from your epass account (like if you transfer it to your bank, or withdraw it or whatever and have success).

Like a check hold time or whatever.

I agree that E-pass has been having a lot of issues lately. But the only thing that E-pass should have done was put an e-mail in your account explaining why they took the money back.
They probably have too. Everytime there is transaction occuring in your epass account, it sends an email to your epass email address with the details of the transaction.

The problem is that most people don't check their epassporte's email since you have to go thru a maze to get to it. **hint** but you can set an option in your epassporte email panel that it forwards you a copy of every email you receive to an other email address. **hint**

But seriously, it sucks that you got scammed - but you have to understand that everybody online or not that is doing business expose themself to be frauded. This happens all the time, paysite owners have chargebacks too and they have to write it off. People selling shit on ebay and accepting payment from paypal run into the same shit as well and even if the merchandise was shipped... sometimes the guy who paid chargebacks.

You are at risk from stolen CC, hacked accounts and what not. And anybody who has a clue will tell you that Epass is probably the safest way to conduct business online has they have good security measures in place and have experience with intense fraud scrubbing coming from Epoch back in the days and the quality ppl who works there.

Like a check hold time or whatever.

no offense to those in here with some knowledge, but it is common practive for a bank to lose the money in fraud transaction

My wife had her credit cards stolen a while back and someone charged almost $1000 on it before we even got the phone. We went in and I had a nice chat with the bank, she informed me that banks always lose money in fraud cases, she said that my wife would get her money back and it would be coming out of the banks funds. It was up to the bank to find the bitch that stole the credit cards and get the money back from her

This was verified when we caught the lady, the police file the arrest report and it was charged as a case between the bank and the theif, not the thief and my wife

banks ALWAYS eat fraud charges

Im not sure how you can blame ePassporte for this. I once lost $200 from a hacked paypal account. Well, the guy said it was hacked - but i bet when he got what he needed he just said it was hacked and got his $ back.

Couple of things you could do:

Make the guy fax his ID + epass card (the atm one) and see if they match. Also look to see if the name of the card/ID matches his whois info. ext ext.
