pr0, that's a good idea, but I think it's way more impressive to make the dinner. Chicks love it when a man makes her dinner. They see you put time into it and did it just for them and they love it. It scores Major points.
Sleazy, I was going to recommend shrimp scampi, but you can't do that. I'm sure a lot of people on here have some awesome recipes. Have fun and knock her socks off!

see my thread on 'that other board' about what to make someone for dinner ;)

the menu ended up being:

caprese salad
ribeye steaks
augratin potatos
a bottle of red wine

you can also add some sherbert and strawberrys or dessert, unless you are the dessert

I'm a beginner (only cooking for about a year now) and I've made the following meals quite successfully:

http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/re...riendly/232608

http://www.americastestkitchen.com/r...s=85&iSeason=5

http://pork.allrecipes.com/recipes/p...ngs=4&si ze=3

I've cooked lots more, but those are the best non-seafood recipes so far.

Besides seafood alergies does she tend to prefer certain things like, no meat, no dairy, etc?

Bleck I hate seafood too so obviously she has good taste lol

Why don't you make like a chicken tetrazini or some sort of pasta dish with salad? That is the easiest dinner known to man but it is all about the presentation...and the wine that goes with it.

Osso Bucco is easy to make... Pretty damn good ... takes about 30 mins to prepare, 3 hours to cook.

Cost about $50 for two, but it's worth it ;)

You cut one ognion and a half in thing peices
Cut 2 big carrots in small peices
Have one big can of tomato peices (quarders or something like that).
Have some pesto ready
4 peices of "jarret de veau". Ask Jay man what it is... not sure the english term. I think it's veal shanks.

Put it in th pan with a lttle butter, let them "melt" for 3 mins
Add the tomatoes, carrots and 2 big spoons (I don't know the mesurements in english) of pesto.

Add the meat, and let it boil (small bubbles, not moving to much) for 3 hours.

Serve with everything.

You can also add :
celery
green pepper
red pepper
garlic
dry white wine
lemon

etc

Serve with a salad or something ;) and good wine.

filet mignon - salt and pepper, high heat 3 minutes a side (depending on how well you like it done)

oven roasted potatoes - 425 for 25 minutes, potatoes in small pieces, salt, pepper, garlic, rosemary if you've got it

oven roasted asparagus - throw it in with the potatoes with salt and pepper for about 10 minutes or untill tender when pierced with a knife.

nice bottle of red wine.

good luck!

fondue is the only thing i can do that is actually good, as well as romantic. i suck at the cooking, so it's either restaurants, or she's cooking while i buy ingredients and pick up the wine.

Sleazy, can I suggest that what ever you decide to cook is light on in 'garlic' and perhaps even onion & beans...last thing she'll want is to get a belly full of 'wind' later in the night...or you for that matter (considering that you may be dessert!)

This takes a little time to prepare but it is my all time favorite meal to have

CHICKEN MADEIRA

4 ea. Boneless/skinless Chicken Breasts (cut into small strips - cooks faster/easier)
Tbsp Lemon Juice
3 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Tbsp flour
2 Cup shredded Havarti (don't use creamy havarti)
1 lb. Mushrooms(sliced)
tsp white pepper
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp shallots or green onions
Cup Madeira
1 tsp Salt
cup whipping cream
1-2 chicken bouillon

1. Saute chicken in oil butter. Transfer to glass baking dish
2. Toss mushrooms in lemon juice
3. Sauthahaha233; onions and mushrooms in remaining oil and butter. (until slightly browned)
4. Blend in flour, Madeira and bouillon; cook until thickened.
5. Add hahaha190; cup of cheese and stir until melted.
6. Add the cream.
7. Spoon over the chicken
8. Top with reserved cheese and cover with foil or lid.
9. Bake at 400 degrees for 35 minutes

Serve with some wild grain rice and it's one of those meals you'll get a hard on while eating it because it's sooooooooooooooooooooo good!

Sleazy..I am sure whatever you prepare she'll be happy. The fun part is cooking together, have her to some of the cutting and chopping.

Have fun

broiled chicken... with rosemary ... NO GARLIC unless you have a mint flavored desert
get frozen corn or wax beans ... stay away from gassy greens
baked potato or scalloped or au gratin from a box... pasta can be filling...

make the food with some mood music on and the spirit of the night will come out in the food

don't do this... it might get you laid but that's it. if you're looking for something more don't do this... plus i would imagine it would take away from the intimate environment i assume you're trying to create.

ask a friend to help you out in cooking and the preparation and don't attempt to do it by yourself especially if you have a strong feeling that you're not that good.

ROFL ... Following a receipe and taking care of stuff isn't hard...

If you fail something, that's because you skipped instructions, or you didn't put enough care doing it (I'm not talkiung about souflé and really hard stuff, but 95 % of the stuff you cook).

I cook minimum one big meal daily (trying probably at least one new receipe weekly), and I don't remember the last time I've failed one.

Sleazy,as a last resort pick up an order of chicken with brocolli from your favorite Chinese restaurant and pour it over a pot of pasta... Then tell her it's a special Italian dish. This works everytime...
