I got myself the Sharp Aquos 37" LCD (LC37DB5U)

I realized that 42" was too big, and 32" was too small, for the location in my room I wanted to put it in!

Bdjuf, you should really stop wasting your money on toys and buy some real estate. Toys are great but when you see guys like Lars that have several rental properties in high end areas, that is what makes me jealous

I saw on tv the other day that couples that have a tv in their room have sex like half as much as couples who don't. Something like that... I'm never going to have a tv in my room.

Sorry to say this, but thats bad investment of money.

With the new Blu-Ray format on the doorstep, which will be standard and DVD will go out of production (just like DVD vs. VHS), anything below 1920 x 1080i is useless.

My advise to all who want to invest in HDTV and not regret it soon:
Do NOT listen to the salesmen, if they want to sell you a HD "ready" TV on sale. If it is below 1920 x 1080 pixels, then it is NOT READY for Blu-Ray!

first of all, a tv is never an investment. second, technology changes every day. if you sit around and say "im gonna wait for the new kind of tvs to come out" then you will never get one. when the new ones come out the price will be outrageous, and do you think there wont be something bigger and better coming out after that?

Maybe I used the wrong word, it should be planning instead of 'investment'.
Anyway, if you can afford a new HDTV every year or two, then its not a problem. But most people are not that wealthy (or as rich they claim to be), so I assume that when the average customer buy a TV, they plan to use it at least 4-5 years.
The TV technology itself changes all the time, yes, but what I am talking about is the compability with the new Blu-Ray format, which will probably be the standard for next 10 years. The compability is not an everyday technology change, but rather a generation shift. It can be compared with buying a VHS player when DVD players were introduced.

The Blu-Ray compability is already here, the producers and salesmen want to get rid of their old TVs, so my advise for planners is to spend some extra bucks instead of getting stucked with a non compatible TV. Its cheaper in the long run.

DH
says the guy with many fancy cars

IMO when you're 20, living with your parents (?) and netting $15k per month(?) then it would be totally stupid to not "waste" anything on "toys"

i also prefer investments than toys but not buying any toys at all when you're young and have lots of spare cash, and waiting with that till you're old and retired is kinda stupid too

btw bdjuf i have been kinda busy last few days, i know you wanted to talk about domains... well, tbh its kinda hard, cause it's a very competitive industry, but feel free to hit me up again, maybe we can discuss it more if u have any specific needs or questions, or seriously want to invest in domains

It's not really that big of a deal. His TV doesn't have an HDMI input anyway, so that means if he does get a blu-ray player in the future he will have to hook it up with the analog component connections, in which case his TV will just scale the signal back to 720P or 1080i or whatever. As far as I know you can still get a high definition signal out of a blu-ray player even if you don't have a 1080p set with an HDMI input. You just won't get the full 1080p signal.

If they shipped blu-ray players and the only way you could use them was with an HDMI input, then they wouldn't sell more than a handful of them, because there would be almost no one that could use them.

As far as I know you can still get a high definition signal out of a blu-ray player even if you don't have a 1080p set with an HDMI input. You just won't get the full 1080p signal.

If they shipped blu-ray players and the only way you could use them was with an HDMI input, then they wouldn't sell more than a handful of them, because there would be almost no one that could use them.
it does have HDMI yo
