Long copyright HURTS the public domain, and innovation. Disney is the major culprit behind copyright extensions (Congress has retroactively extended copyright 11 times since it was framed.) The latest extension was funded by Disney and came just as the first Mickey Mouse cartoon was due to expire.

The Supreme Court is just about to hear a lawsuit against Ashxxxxx on the Sonny Bono Copyright Extension Act, that got snuck in when the whole Lewinsky thing was going on, with no debate. Bought and paid for by Disney.

I believe you (have no problem with it). I believe you're a hypocrite if on the one hand you would defend a content producer from misappropriation on the one hand, but feel differently when it comes to music.

If I have any MP3's (I can't say for sure none came along with some of the software on the computer), you can be sure they were paid for in some manner.

It's sad whenever someone defending property rights is thought of as a "sanctimonious windbag," but I haven't noticed much character behind most of your postings, so this is no surprise to me.

Speaking for myself in the 2+ years that I have been on the net, I have never used mp3. Wouldn't know it if I saw it to tell you the truth. Never even copied CD. If I want a CD I go to the store and BUY it.

It's one thing to pay for music or whatever then copy it for you to use in another form, it something else for you to copy something for free without permission then give it out to all your buddies.

Maybe if there wasn't so much "stealing" going on, music labels could lower the costs of CD's so poor asses that can't make $15 a week don't have to steal it in the first place.
