I'm amazed that a bunch of people who work in porn and constantly whine about freeloading surfers are so quick to run around stealing music.

Actually, it's not. Copyright was invented for the good of the people, not the artist. The primary purpose was to enlarge the public domain. It does/did this by giving the content creators incentive to create by granting them sole copy right for (initially) 14 years. Now, the system is broken and it's almost a century (75 years).
Long copyright HURTS the public domain, and innovation. Disney is the major culprit behind copyright extensions (Congress has retroactively extended copyright 11 times since it was framed.) The latest extension was funded by Disney and came just as the first Mickey Mouse cartoon was due to expire.
The Supreme Court is just about to hear a lawsuit against Ashxxxxx on the Sonny Bono Copyright Extension Act, that got snuck in when the whole Lewinsky thing was going on, with no debate. Bought and paid for by Disney.
If you guys want to get better informed on issues of copyright, you really should read
