well, there is one minor difference. In this country, one is entitled to a trial before a jury of their peers. There is no similarities.

Besides, today with DNA testing available, we could prove through blood, hair, or other trace evidence if the donor was really guilty or not. Also, do not knock medical atrocities committed during time of war. That is when the major surgical advancements have been made.

This might be difficult to understand ... but killing someone who has killed your loved ones is a totally different story. It's NOT death penalty (comitted by your government).

To answer your question: If your government wants to raise taxes do they ask tax payers if they like to pay more? No, they don't ask them because they already know their (natural) answer. And because of the same reason you must not ask crime victimes if they favor death penalty.

I'm in favor of the death penalty except for the fact that I don't trust juries not to convict innocent people. I know that I wouldn't want the dipshit who works at 7-11 or McDonald's sitting on a jury if I was on trial.

I kinda liked the idea of what happend some years ago.. can't remember what country it was, but some hijackers were taken off of a plane and hung right there on the tarmac. Swift justice..

But Jenny is right.. there are too many innocent people in prison. If it is proven 'without a doubt' that a person is guilty of murder, child molestation, and such, then take em out pronto.. don't wait for 10 years.

I'm against it.
Why?
Because American law doesn't really care if someone is more or less mentaly handicapped.
Last month they wanted to kill a black dude who was mentaly not right and was 17 when he (if he did) raped a girl.
Plus you are quilty untill proven innocent.
It happens quite often that someone is being released because he got locked up for something he didn't do, how to release him if the state already killed him?
If he did something wrong lock him up.
No need to kill him IMO.... After all you are still killing someones son/daughter.
Plus America got listed in the top5 by amnesti international together with countries like Iran for not accepting human rights in alot of cases.

I think that when we see absolute injustice, we wanna see the person get what's coming to them

in a society such as ours, there are some judicial errors, but the benefit to society is better served by erasing the individuals, especially in cases where there is overwhelming evidence against them. Then of course, there is the enormous cost of prosecution...

why not just dump them off in the center of antarctica... if they make it back, then they must have been innocent ;) then give the money which was going to be spent on court costs to the victims

on the flip side Zimbabwe thinks that it has swift justice, albeit misguided
