You are confusing "private/public property" and a "private/public place". Private property can be a public place - a sports stadium being a good example. The owners of the stadium cannot do absolutely anything they want. i'd rather be at a football game where they searched everyone prior to entry, rather than at one where they were not searched. Makes perfect sense. what's the big deal, if the persons got nothing to hide? so what. Those searches are conducted for a reason. to stop any threats against safety, bodily injury, etc.
