The basis of the suit is this guy didn't know when he resigned for season tickets that he might be subject to search when entering PRIVATE PROPERTY.

You are confusing "private/public property" and a "private/public place". Private property can be a public place - a sports stadium being a good example. The owners of the stadium cannot do absolutely anything they want. For example, should a football team who owns their own stadium be able to have a policy and put up a sign that says "no jews allowed" because it is "private property"? I don't think so. Good for the ACLU. You Americans are such pussies when it comes to your rights, so someone's got to stand up for you. Of all the things happening in the US right now, do you honestly believe that the best use of ACLU resources is filing suit against a private company that decided to pat down people (based on the edict of their parent company) before they set foot on private property.

i'd rather be at a football game where they searched everyone prior to entry, rather than at one where they were not searched. Makes perfect sense. what's the big deal, if the persons got nothing to hide? so what. Those searches are conducted for a reason. to stop any threats against safety, bodily injury, etc.

As has already been pointed out, the ACLU has represented even Ku Klux Klan members and neo-Nazis. And since such cases have been among their most publicized, it isn't really credible that anyone with even a superficial knowledge of the ACLU would not be aware of them.

The whole point of the ACLU is to defend the Constitution and whether they win or lose, whether those they represent are popular or not, it is beyond me why anyone who is proud of the Constitution and values it would not encourage their activities. Left and right in this context are irrelevant because while it might feel good to assume that if we lost the protection of the Constitution your freedoms and rights would be enhanced and someone else's curtailed, that is a very short-sighted assumption. Attempt to amend the Constitution by all means, but don't support abuses of it, no matter who is responsible for them.
