I need a laptop - SONY or APPLE?

So my Dell laptop fucked up and it is time for something new.
I want it look good, be fast enough to check mail, do some word processing and view gfy, and be light with a good monitor.

I really like the way the ibook and the powerbook laptops work but will I hate not having windows?

This would really come down to opperating system choice for me.

I use a Vaio and like it a lot.

I know people who use the Mac's and they like them a lot.

In my oppinion, both the new slim-and-light Viao's and the Mac's look great.

I'd of course choose Apple iBook. They are a lot better than standard PCs, in my opinion.

Macs rock but you might want to hold on for a while as Apple are soon going to be using Intel Chips. Who knows what that will do to the OS ?

Why get a mac laptop if all your other systems are PC. Its kind of pointless imo. You can run into problems with transferring documents etc. It comes down to the operating system and what you can use.

If you run into problems with files in todays world then you are an idiot. Things like that are pretty much non existent. For the most part PC users may have problems with Mac files but never the other way around.

My sister didn't want to spend as much as needed for a Mac so she went with a Vaio and I told her it was probably the best PC laptop (I hate delldos) but so far her Sony underperforms compared to my 2 year old Apple laptop. I am surprised it's as shitty as it is.

Macs are pretty nice, but I have too many apps that'll only work on Windows and I'd rather not go through an emulation program to get things running. I'll prob get one for non-work use, but until then, I love my Compaq laptop.

You've obviously never really used a mac. It integrates seamlessly in to any PC network, you can share files from all major Windows applications.

IMO Apple > PC .... but! if you run Windoze apps that are very necessary for work. you gotta get a windoze compatible machine to do work on cuz you will be stressing in VPC and such in OSX...

just something to think about.. Toshiba's satellites are fine laptops, btw
