I need a laptop - SONY or APPLE?

So my Dell laptop fucked up and it is time for something new.
I want it look good, be fast enough to check mail, do some word processing and view gfy, and be light with a good monitor.

I really like the way the ibook and the powerbook laptops work but will I hate not having windows?

tony286 09-30-2005 06:30 PM

JeanClaude VanDamme 10-01-2005 01:01 AM

My Vaio is damn nice !

Robx 10-01-2005 03:54 AM

This would really come down to opperating system choice for me.

I use a Vaio and like it a lot.

I know people who use the Mac's and they like them a lot.

In my oppinion, both the new slim-and-light Viao's and the Mac's look great.

I am on Sony

ServerGenius 10-01-2005 04:04 AM

Sony Vaio.. :thumbsup

beta-tester 10-01-2005 04:06 AM

I'd of course choose Apple iBook. They are a lot better than standard PCs, in my opinion.

wildgirl 10-01-2005 08:12 PM

I think sony is nice but my friend told me that apple is great :thumbsup

imageman 10-01-2005 08:15 PM

Macs rock but you might want to hold on for a while as Apple are soon going to be using Intel Chips. Who knows what that will do to the OS ?

My Vaio is KICKASS (13.3") and so is the one my friend bought (10")

Probono 10-01-2005 08:48 PM

If the software you run will run on a MAC buy a MAC.

Babagirls 10-01-2005 08:50 PM

neither. get a Toshiba.

Red Ezra 10-01-2005 09:03 PM

17" g4 mac

infecto 10-01-2005 09:51 PM

Why get a mac laptop if all your other systems are PC. Its kind of pointless imo. You can run into problems with transferring documents etc. It comes down to the operating system and what you can use.

If you run into problems with files in todays world then you are an idiot. Things like that are pretty much non existent. For the most part PC users may have problems with Mac files but never the other way around.

My sister didn't want to spend as much as needed for a Mac so she went with a Vaio and I told her it was probably the best PC laptop (I hate delldos) but so far her Sony underperforms compared to my 2 year old Apple laptop. I am surprised it's as shitty as it is.

The best

DonX 10-01-2005 11:00 PM

MAC all the way man..... You'll be glad you did..... :thumbsup

BigBen 10-01-2005 11:27 PM

Macs are pretty nice, but I have too many apps that'll only work on Windows and I'd rather not go through an emulation program to get things running. I'll prob get one for non-work use, but until then, I love my Compaq laptop.

You've obviously never really used a mac. It integrates seamlessly in to any PC network, you can share files from all major Windows applications.

sh33p 10-02-2005 01:48 AM

I just snapped up an Acer. Compaq sucks. Mine lasted 18 months.

Vitasoy 10-02-2005 02:05 AM

I would go with the Sony Vaio

High Quality 10-02-2005 02:22 AM

Toshiba 4 lyfe.

potter 10-02-2005 02:29 AM

apple > sony

... .......

the source 10-02-2005 02:36 AM

IMO Apple > PC .... but! if you run Windoze apps that are very necessary for work. you gotta get a windoze compatible machine to do work on cuz you will be stressing in VPC and such in OSX...

just something to think about.. Toshiba's satellites are fine laptops, btw :thumbsup

Dalai lama 10-02-2005 02:37 AM

Go for Sony.

Rui 10-02-2005 05:35 AM

Toshiba is what you need :)

u-Bob 10-02-2005 05:59 AM
