I just got back from riding the London Underground - GoFuckYourself.com

and a bus and a regular commuter train (I had to to get to the tube). It just felt like the right thing to do on the first buisness day back. The free Metro paper had a big advert in it thanking people for using public transport today. Not only an act of defiance but because I figured the longer I went without getting on central London transport the more I would make excuses not to in the future.

Things were a bit emptier than they normally would be at those times of day. A bit like people that didn't need to go in on buisness weren't going in ( I went in mid day) but there were enough people for it to feel comfortable.

To be honest, I wasn't. I was very aware and people looked at each other a lot more than they normall do but it wasn't too bad. The Underground is usually a place where people don't talk very loudly at all and never to strangers.

My best friend works and lives there. He had to ride the tube the next day too, like everyone else. It sucks what happened but staying away and avoiding public transport is just what they wanted... still its fucked up

I havnt had to do it yet...... I think it will be uncomfortable rather than scary.

My mother had to use the number 30 (the bus route that got bombed) today to get to work because her tube line was still down. I dont think she enjoyed that much.

I dont think it will be long until things are back to normal. I used to live in london for quite a few years. Its not unusual to get a bomb scare and have to sit outside the tube untill you get the all clear. We've also had all the bullshit IRA bombings for long enough too.
I dont think these terrorists realise just how resilient Londoners are

Security...it is like that in some offical buildings and airports in the States too. My dad taught me that as a kid never to take pics of places of security becaue it is often looked at badly.
