But a thought came across my mind. They change the law and have to give a consultation period. They then change it again and just say that's it?

Why no consultation for the changes, some of which they though up themselves. Such as;

Permanent Resident Card (commonly known as a ``Green Card''), or other employment authorization document issued by the United States,

And

identification issued by a State or the District of Columbia; or, a foreign government-issued equivalent of any of the documents listed above when both the person who is the subject of the picture identification card and the producer maintaining the required records are located outside the United States.

I don't think either of those changes were because of comments.

You think they will lock legitimate webmasters up over 2257?... there are already millions of sites out there that don't comply with the current regulations, well over half in fact. The only people that have been prosecuted are people peddling CP.

Alot of the people in this industry don't realize they're breaking obscenity laws in their own states... You think you know so much? Post a list of your adult web sites and I guarentee you have some already breaking the current laws, we all do... how many people talking shit in this thread know the regulations regarding how your 2257 compliance and producers contact info is displayed on your sites? Font size in relation to the font on the rest of the page, etc... It's all in the existing regulations, how many people have bothered to read it in it's entirety on the DOJ site?

I seem to have seen a free software program at one of the boards that helps people understand, setup and record their documentation.

It is Excel based, has a list of manditory data fields, and is pretty useful.

Built in image viewer as well to switch between reading the photo information and inputting the information into the database.

Now.. where did I see that??

In a normal world I would agree, but this is BushWorld. They have an agenda to shut down porn, and there is a good chance that this is how they'll do it.

It's also very possible that the lawyers who are salivating over this are making it into a big deal when it's not. Dunno, but I don't want to find out the hard way.
