Well, after a few months of lurking and reading as much as I can, I've decided to take the plunge and make my first post. Hi, how are you? That's nice, go fuck yourself.

With that out of the way, I'll jump right in to my first question. I'm trying to find a good source of information regarding the law regarding porn sites. Most likely, I'll start with a TGP on a paid host. I'll probably go with CandidHosting (at Florida NAP, in Florida) to start with, they have an attractive collocation price, which is something I'd definitely like to do when the site can support it. I'm unclear on how the law works though. For example, I live in Kansas. Are there state laws which would prevent me from being the webmaster of an adult site, even if the site is actually hosted in Florida where such things are apparently perfectly legal?

I've done a lot of searching on this, but most sites I've found dealing with porn laws are written in lawyer speak, or don't answer my question. Is there a resource that breaks down the law by state, or is there an easy answer to this question? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At least one person has told me that I should just start doing an adult site because nobody pays attention to such laws. I would like to do this right, or not do it at all, so I'm starting with the legality of it before moving on. I'm not looking for a quick buck, and I'm not looking to cheat or fuck anybody. Rather, I'd like to build a site that looks nice and works nice, something which seems to be extremely rare in the TGP world, and with adult sites in general.

Again, thanks for any help or advice you may have to offer. I've considered contacting a lawyer about this, but that seems like overkill to a question as seemingly simple as this one.

As far as your question about legallity of being a webmaster, I'm sorry, but I can't help ya there. I never even checked the laws in my state, hopefully I'm legal, he he he. Just don't go running up and down the streets in your town yelling "I'm a porn webmaster" and you should be ok, he he.

Now, I live in North Carolina which has some of the most bass ackward laws concerning sexuality and obscenity etc.... I don't know of the specifics of internet in this or any other state or even how it applies. One thing I can tell you is that I am incorporated here in N.C. and run my business with no worries cuz I know I'm within the boundries of national laws (i.e. kiddie shit, beast, etc..) and if I can do it here it should be OK anywhere.

Now, while it's unlikely (but who knows?) the US government would extradite you to Saudi Arabia to have some body part chopped off, with John Ash***** as Attorney General, who can really say? If you're unsure and a bit apprehensive, the best thing to do is just not put anything hardcore on your site. Use softcore stuff perhaps and let the sponsors take care of the hardcore stuff.

Your best bet with regards to legal/illegal is to treat thislike a real business...that means you should have a good attorney and a good bookkeeper...my attorney and bookkeeper are worth their weight in gold, they keep me legal, up to date and running like a "real business"

that said, you seem to be too wary of what's legal and what isn't, you'd try to do some research on AVS, that way, you'r ass would be covered in most senses and places, since you are asking for proof of age.
