:mad Changing Nameservers

If a hosting company has set up everything correctly, shouldn't there be NO downtime/accessability problems when changing the ns??? I thought this process would be smooth.....

It depends on who you use for a registrar. A few of my client's domains are with Network Solutions and there is ALWAYS downtime.

What kind of problems are you having?

ABSOLUTE PAIN IN THE ASS

Net Sol, and GoDaddy are two of the absolute worst.

I use directnic and changed nameservers for a domain yesterday. It took less than an hour.

You have to keep both the old and new sites up until the DNS propagates to the new server worldwide.
