Changing Nameservers
If a hosting company has set up everything correctly, shouldn't there be NO downtime/accessability problems when changing the ns??? I thought this process would be smooth.....

check by IP, then change the dns..

I use directnic and changed nameservers for a domain yesterday. It took less than an hour.

Keep the URL on both name servers, till the change is made!

You have to keep both the old and new sites up until the DNS propagates to the new server worldwide.
