Perfect adult photography gear
I got a few amazing girls and am going to build solo girl sites for each. I'll do everything myself for start, even content shooting. So could anyone knowledgable please suggest some good photograpy gear.. I need everything, cammeras, lenses, lighting, light measuring devices etc.. Got a couple of good DV cammeras, but I need gear for stills.
Thanks, Darko

Oh Boy!
Good luck with that. For solo site you really dont need to spend a ton. Setting yourself up with a huge system is no way to start. Get a decent Camera and some photo floods and be on your way. $1500.00 max. If it goes well, then you can upgrade a bit.

![]() I gave him good advise moron. He is new to shooting solo sites and the LAST thing you do is go buy a butt load of equipment not knowing if you have a winner of not. Considering there are at least 10 new solo sites popping up around here everyday, its pretty sound advice.

about me needing luck.. I've been promoting other people's paysites for the past 9 years, last two years I focused on solo girls. I think I have the eye (and experience) to recognize a winner when I see one. but sure, everyone needs luck nowadays. I'll post my first photo shoot pics here when I do them some time next week. Looking forward to your reviews guys.

I wasnt trying to be rude and yes, felix suggestion will work also. I started with two photo floods and a Nikon N90 20 years ago. (not doing web then of course) When i started shooting solo site content I had a Nikon 2200 cool pix. That was in 1998. Felix's plan would work great for ya. However, if you are wanting to save a few bucks and dont have a ton of experience shooting I would do the photo floods, learn about light and how it works, then upgrade. One big thing. Get yourself a sunlight reflector or two You want a White/Sunlight one and a Silver/Gold one. They are used to bounce light back on the model if you are shooting outdoors stuff. The sunlight colored reflector gives them a nice warm glow to there skin. Nothing worse then nose shadows when all you need is a 50.00 reflector to fill in the shadows. It also gives them a bit of nice color if they need it. I always buy the large size 5' x 5' collapsables.

Ah... so much to say but not willing to type out the Gettysburg Address...
So I will hit on the main points. If you are shooting solo only, make sure you do not overpay them and blow your budget. Make sure you get multiple sets out of them. So you pay them $x.xx for 7 sets or something. If you can't afford the fancy professional lighting, buy contractor lighting from your Menard's or whatever. They are like 1200 watts or something like that. If you can afford it, get something as a diffuser. If you are poor, use paper, or a white bed sheet. Lighting makes an ENOURMOUS difference. You just have no idea. So make sure you shoot around midday depending on your location so you can get some natural light (if shooting in a house, apt, or someplace other than a studio). More is always better than not enough. Use stands, and get direct light if possible. Next, you will need awesome editing software. I'd recommend Adobe Photoshop for photos, and Premeire for video if you are going to offer it. Both are excellent! If you are going to offer DVD, you will need a lot more software, but that's another chapter. Get two cameras. One digital camera for stills, and DV for video. Vicaps are a lot of work when you are going through trying to find clear frames, and sorting video. Plus a lot of TGP/Free sites will not post your stuff if it's poor quality. That's enough for now to get you started. ![]() |

I don't know you but as long as we are handing out advice...... If you are going to call somebody a moron, at least learn how to spell "advise" prior to doing so. As for the other advice that you gave....Yeah, I'd say that's reasonable but in today's solo girl market, the quality has been stepped up a notch and better equipment is almost a necessity if you plan to compete with the other sites out there. |

as others have said forget expensive equip to start.
go to ebay and buy a canon digital rebel, and a wide to medium zoom, used about $800. now go to barnes & noble and spend $200 on fashion magazines, i.e. vanity fair, harpers bazaar, vogue, etc. get a whole armload of them. take a look at helmut newton stuff, etc. spend a week looking at the fashion ads in these magazine, studying how the girls are lit, keep a notepad in your pocket and jot down the erotic images in your mind. if you don't have an erotic imagination, if you can't light a model in a way that makes her interesting to look at and attractive, and if you don't study the physics of light all the equipment in the world will do you no good. do not listen to any shooters' advice here. 90% do not know what they are doing. develop your own UNIQUE style. then maybe the surfers will pay attention to your stuff. |

In photography you need your own brand. Whatever that might be. You do it a particular way that is better, worse, or completely unique from all the other sharks. A lot of times this will distinguish you from the pack. While there are some general techniques, and such to make sure you get the best quality video/stills, do whatever works best for you. If your members or customers don't like it, believe me, they will e-mail you feedback. ![]() |

For sure! I agree. It has been stepped up a ton actually. However, I do think he can get the quality needed to have a successful start with what I mentioned. My only motivation here was to let him know that the solo site market it one of the hardest to break into and make money at due to the HUGE number of site popping up these days. So, before he invest $5,000 - $8,000 into a good, pro starter system, spend $1500 on a system that works and get his feet wet. He could do very well with a nice Nikon 5700 ($695.00) three photo floods with stands ($175.00) and a 5' x 5' sunlight bounce reflector $125.00. Save the FujiS3 for his second million dollar a year site. ;) Yeah, sorry man. Ya got me there on the spelling. ![]()

For the record:
I am currently producing both hardcore video content and solo content for single girl sites. I use a Sony VX2000, VX2100, and a Canon 20D with all the extras. For lighting, I keep it basic in most cases because as has been previously mentioned...I have developed a "brand" and or "style" that my clients are looking for. I do own strobes and higher quality lighting gear for those who want it but that's not what I am known for. I started with a cheaper 35mm, a blue filter (I forget which one), and a basic light kit very similar to this one. Once I moved to digital, I started with a 3.3mp Epson 3100Z camera, then a Canon Powershot G3. I rented video cameras until I could afford to buy one. My first MiniDV cam was a Sony TRV-27. I also upgraded to photoflex starlight softbox kits. Today I use better equipment for a couple of reasons. 1: I can afford to. 2: A faster camera allows me to get more work done in a shorter period of time. Time saved is money saved when it comes to paying your models. 2: Photography is a personal hobby, not just my business. I wanted better equipment...I didn't need it. |
