For the record:
I am currently producing both hardcore video content and solo content for single girl sites.
I use a Sony VX2000, VX2100, and a Canon 20D with all the extras.
For lighting, I keep it basic in most cases because as has been previously mentioned...I have developed a "brand" and or "style" that my clients are looking for. I do own strobes and higher quality lighting gear for those who want it but that's not what I am known for.
I started with a cheaper 35mm, a blue filter (I forget which one), and a basic light kit
very similar to this one.
Once I moved to digital, I started with a 3.3mp Epson 3100Z camera, then a Canon Powershot G3. I rented video cameras until I could afford to buy one. My first MiniDV cam was a Sony TRV-27. I also upgraded to photoflex starlight softbox kits.
Today I use better equipment for a couple of reasons.
1: I can afford to.
2: A faster camera allows me to get more work done in a shorter period of time. Time saved is money saved when it comes to paying your models.
2: Photography is a personal hobby, not just my business. I
wanted better equipment...I didn't
need it.
