DigiPawn

We are also about to launch some really exciting features. I wish I could share them with you now, but that would give away the surprise.

DigiPawn is a pretty simple concept. It's hard to think of ways to improve it. If you have any ideas, please share them. Ultimately the text is all that matters. We have money to loan. That said, the old design was horrible and it had to go. At lease this design is respectable and hopefully looks like a solid and reputable finance option.

I'll whip you up a little sample to show you how the design could be improved... you're right, the text is important, but the design is pivotal: if people don't think it looks right, they will never get into the company.

What's going to make a difference with my clientel? Nothing matters other than the money and them not feeling that we are going to steal their names; security.

The first pawn shop was started by a Jewish family named the Medicis. Their family crest had 3 gold balls on it. Pawn Shops all over the world have been incorporating those three balls in their logos for hundreds of years.

If you're happy with it then it's good enough I guess. I mean, it's your site!

We're not bashing it; we're just telling you what we think, that's all.

If you want me to show you what I can do to improve the site, just let me know: I'll whip something up for free. Give me a shout. You know my e-mail address.

Im saying the clientel ultimately need and want the money, and may not necessarily base thier decision on the design. Im not doggin you or the site design in anyway.

We are on the same page. I want a great design too. I just can't think of what the best way to portray the service is. Honestly, this is the best I could come up with. I agree that it has a template feel to it but it really is a brochure type of website. There are only so many ways you can design it.

You do realize that you get the name back when you pay me back and keep DNS control during the loan period?

Rick, you need to run a link checker over the site. nothing says say away more then broken links that lean to a vanilla 404 page. example on http://www.digipawn.com/sell.php about digipawn link goes to 404

Well, you have two kinds of "simple" designs. First you have the very basic, simple look that is still professionally created which reflects trust & success.

Then you have basic design that looks like Uncle Bob built it for you.

Both types of designs seem to sell good. So I guess it depends on if you care or not.

Perhaps it just needs a logo makeover (again.) Seems too ordinary for a service like yours. Maybe have a logo contest on gfy... I've seen some amazing stuff churned out for under $100, and some "knockouts" when the contests were higher. otherwise the design is clean and simple. also, consider adding more info (another page) regarding "security" of the asset being pawned. I know you've explained it well to us, but some people just need to see it on the site, perhaps deserving it's own button/link/page.

also, when I logged in, I didn't see any domains for sale in the store, yet the site says there are domains for sale in the store... maybe you should add some of your own just to make prospective customers feel like others are using your service... or wait.. would that work against you? hmm...

btw, why'd you leave me hanging? it was your idea, not mine. LOL.

Rick,

Begin with the question: "Who is my customer?"

Are we trying to appeal to the guy who can't make this month's rent? Or is it the owner of a small Web business, who had no idea there was any way to extract short-term liquidity from his non-yielding digital/intellectual assets?

I think the visuals on the site are almost spot-on -- you show young, high-energy, e-savvy business people, and the institutional columns convey financial solidity. Good.

But, where things get a little muddy is in the articulation of the prop. Clearly, your experiences in traditional pawn brokering, and your familiarity with the circumstances that usually bring people to pawn shops, have influenced the messaging of DigiPawn. Bad. Lose some of the shameful urgency, and convey, instead, the notion of Hidden Opportunity. It's hard to avoid making the guy who's pawning his wife's wedding ring feel like a failure. But I think you can, and should, do better by the guy who's going to hock a domain to subsidize a digital dream.

LOL.

.
good idea

Nice site, however a few things that caught my eye. Wheather or not you like logo is one thing - however the image quality of the logo is really bad - looks like it was a high compression was used (or maybe just not vector). 2nd the header what is up with the pillars there? maybe its just me but what do they have t do with Digipawn? put something usefull there instead - if nothing else some sort of short text explaining what you do. 3rd the big picture - We save whats important to you? Is that what you do? sounds more like a safe company than a pawn shop imho.

Still its a vast improvement from the old site
