Just back from seeing Garden State
and I rather liked it. Some bits of it were a bit to close to home for me lately but I went into the film knowing very little about it and ended up thinking it was a very sweet film but not so sweet my teeth hurt.
I suspect it is in the way of films like Lost In Translation in that not everyone will like the style but i did...so 3 stars out of 4 from me. Lost a star because it was a bit self aware at times but I can overlook that for the number of positives in the rest of the film. |

My girlfriend made me watch that awful movie. I would rather chew my arm off than watch that again.

great flick- as a neurotic Jew who grew up back east and lives out in Cali it hit too close to home...
Throw in the fact that I have been on TV nationally and it's the first thing I get when I come " I saw you on tv" (Granted I don't play a retard in my tv appearances) at least I don't intend to :-))

I loved it, but I'm a bit biased. I adore Natalie Portman.

OK, watched it tonight. I liked it, but didn't love it. I did think it was very clever in many of the "jokes" and literally LOL several times

Just watched the DVD of this one. Great flick. Reminded me a lot of Good Will Hunting. Excellent soundtrack and Zach mixed it in with the various themes brilliantly.
This was a breath of fresh air. Funny, yet sad at times, but leaves you full of promise.

I loved Garden State, and consider it my favorite movie of 2004....
however, I hated Lost in Translation. I think you're completely coming out of left field with that comparison. |

I thought Lost In Translation was so severely overrated it was sickening. But, when you have Coppola in your name great things happen even when they aren't warrented. I'm a huge Bill Murray fan and I think the girl is the hottest in Hollywood, but even that couldn't save the incomplete dialogue and lackluster script.
