WTF - I just noticed something new TCG is doing

When surfers click on my TCG banners, I launch the site in a new window.

target="_blank"

So people are looking at the TCG paysite in the new window, but my website is still open in the original window. That is all fine, nothing new there.

But now I've noticed that if you close the TCG paysite window, it has some code that changes the original window with my website and sends people to a page full of links (without my refcode). This is not cool.

I launch the links in a new window for a reason, I want my website to be kept open in case they close the TCG paysite window and come back to surfing my website and hopefully they will click on other banners, now I find out they are hijacking my website anyway?

Not cool.

You're saying SP2 is causing it to hijack completely different windows?

Why do I only notice this on TCG sites? The same thing isn't happening with my other sponsors sites with popups, only TCG.

bcause TCG is prob using the SP2-owned popup code... its a hiccup... does that, to the page that remains open, because the code its telling "hey show these popups" without telling SP2 "hey go here in a NEW page!"

Check it out:

Mad Thumbs is getting hijacked too

www.madthumbs.com

There is a TCG gallery in the 2nd row, far right. Click the thumb and it launches the gallery in a new window, then click the refcode link on that gallery to go to the TCG paysite, then close the window. Closing that window will cause the Mad Thumbs site to be hijacked and the surfer is sent to:

I just noticed it hijacking Consumption Junction too

http://www.consumptionjunction.com/home.asp

Click on a TCG banner, and even though CJ launches the TCG sites in a new window, if you close that new window it will send you away from CJ and to a page full of non-refcode links

I just checked, and it doesn't happen with Nasty Dollars, Top Bucks, or Platinum Bucks sites.

So far, I've only found TCG sites are hijacking my website.

either ND, TB, and PB sites are not using the SP2 consoles OR they triggered correctly and the code is not looking for just a page to load... should be pointed to a new page... i dont believe this is intentional hijacking, but an oversight.

I'm hoping that it is just an oversight on TCG's part. I hope it isn't intentional. I like TCG, but this just isn't cool.

You should care about Firefox because it's being used by more and more people. IE is dropping.

"The statistics above are extracted from W3Schools' log-files"

um im pretty sure that not every porn surfer has checked out w3schools.com to make this statement accurate... thats mostly webmaster traffic and we all know that we love Firefox... at the moment it is not pertinent

with the amount of affiliates they have, there will always be complaints about some people's ratios ... right ?

i dont think the people doing 1:50 are going to bother going on the 'Support' forum to say how well they are doing

Actually, thats not true for me.

I clicked on that thumb, the gallery opened up in a new window. Clicking on the site link in the gallery and closing out just showed me all the exit consoles in the same window.

MadThumbs is still sitting open in my original browser window.

I'm running SP2, so... the TCG Exits are working fine for me.

I just tested that one too, it hijacked the MadThumbs window and sent it to:

http://www.tv69.com/xcons/exit/hardcore_sp2.html

If I ran TGPs, I would be very concerned about this. If you post TCG galleries and people's browsers are getting hijacked, it will seriously lower your trades because people won't be able to click on anymore of the galleries in your TGP because they got sent away to another page.

I don't get this "hijacking" that you are referring to.

I've got the default settings on my IE.

I run a TGP... I send to Console Free.

Basically, even though I launch TCG paysites in a new window, when they close that new window the original window will be changed to this:

Hey Brisk...I can't re-create your problem on madthumbs either and I'm using sp2, IE as well. (tested out on a bigleaguefacials gallery).

But as has been said, if you don't like the consoles, you can use TCG's console free option.

Yes, I'm aware of console free, but I don't want to use it.

I read your 1st post and I can understand what you are describing, but, I can't replicate what you are seeing.

Even clicking on the console link that you're posting from this thread, it doesn't take over my GFY window. Their entire exit chain works properly for me.

Maybe your IE isn't default.

Strange, if I click on this console link of theirs: http://www.tv69.com/xcons/exit/hardcore_sp2.html

It will launch in a new window, but if I close that new window, it will hijack my GFY window

Brisk I tried it on XP SP2 as well and it doesn't highjack my browser. I have other software running that stops blockups so that could be why.

Hmm.. I usually do 20 sales per 7 day pay period. This pay period, 6 days into it, I have TWO sales. They tell me nothing is wrong on there end.

I guess I cant bitch too much, its up to me to keep sending traffic to them or someone else.

As for this "highjacking" problem, I could repruduce it here. I tried on SP2 and non SP2 machines. Not happening.

Guys get a grip, choose no console and accept $25 per signup or use the $35 per signup option and let Traffic cash gold make a little bit of money while they pay you 80-90% of the income from the joins. Popups are needed to pay $35 per trial thats a fact.

Your complaining about banner clicks and all the lost traffic trades, how many people on your website click the banners really??? I've run tgp's before and not that many click the banners 1-3% max, a very small % and you won't notice jack all difference with the few that click the traffic cash gold banners.

Also the reason your referrer code isn't in the exit is because programs can't afford to pay you out $35 per trial and pay on exits, they have to keep the exits for themselfs these days because if they paid you on all exits they would lose money.

The other major programs will follow and use the sp2 code soon i'm sure of that.

btw, I have nothign to do with TCG, just voicing my oppions.

Its without a doubt the sp2 code only. I was able to replicate that on one of my sites. Its obviously looking for a window on exit and its taking the last open browser window.

I am sure this is just an oversight and not intentional. These SP2 pop codes are very new and will take some tweaking. I will be sure to forward this thread to TCG in case anyone else didn't yet.
