Great! I love articles like this! Here's hoping for another 1000 articles like this and that people all over the world read about them. Maybe it will cut down on the population and the illegal immigration here. Certainly make my life much better. Shorter lines, more open road, drop rate of inflation, etc.

You have to take a plane to go there too. Unless you drive through the Panamanian isthmus but I wouldn't recommend it.

I think a lot of people are afraid of Central and South America. It isn't exactly Europe.

America was founded by Europeans, by people from my country for example. In general Europeans dont have that arrogance, i wonder where and when it wrong on your side of the planet...and why.

Your country was founded by people from another country too, whats your point ??

In general europeans are less arrogant that americans ?? HAHA i think not.. ( france makes up for the arrogance of every other european nation )

I can almost guarantee that your wrong there, most americans wouldn't even know where amsterdam is let alone know anything about it. If anything americans are less aware of other countries and what roles they play in the world.

Let me just cut in here and give you a little sidenote.

I was taught school in europe, canada and the usa, ( in 3 different languages ) and i can tell you the reason for this.

The school systems in every country except the usa , spend the majority of " SOCIAL STUDIES " class on the world and their own country is usually a small portion of this class. In u.s.a. the majority of the time is spent purely on the u.s.a. and the minority on the world.

But i think your wrong about your assumptions on americans i think many would say there are other nice countries to live, but that they dont want to visit because they are happy here. The unknown is intimidating.

ok, chump. Explain it for me.
And remember, chump, the what I was replying to, ie that Americans don't leave their country to see the outside world was proven false by my post. It's clear that a higher % of Americans have an understanding of the rest of the world than the rest of the world has with us.

You're 1 country, does that start you in the right direction? 12clicks you were supposed to think HARD for 10 minutes before asking me to explain it to you, did you? I don't think you did, I think as soon as you read what I wrote you were thinking about what to write back. That's not thinking. So, think for 10 minutes, try to figure it out, and then if you honestly can't figure out where your reasoning fails I'll give you a little statistics lesson.

I know you're a retard with the smily faces, but how do you put one after "I don't like working late". Seriously, did you laugh when you said that? Do you expect other people to? Where does the laughing face come in?

The fact that you're able to dress yourself in the morning amazes me.

Tell me exactly what you mean? There are about three or four things I think you could be saying with this. ;-}

If you're meaning we could just drive down to SA, I think I disagree, lol. It would still be a major hassle and expense to get down there, and require a flight. Plus, the countries are so big it would be almost impossible to drive through most of them. Not like driving a few miles over into a completely different nation. In terms of money/travel, I don't think it would be that different for me to go to SA, as opposed to Europe. I was talking about Europe in general though, since that's where Battuss is from.

I've been to parts of CA and the Caribbean, but I've never been to SA. The one place I want to go more than anywhere is Rio.

I'm just saying you don't have to "cross an ocean" to see a different culture. I know you have to fly to most places. I agree with your post.

You have so see Rio one of these days, it's one of my favorite cities in the world.

I am outside of the USA 50% of the time, so this next comment comes from my own observations...

To say the United States is like saying the EU. There are parts of the US I would not consider living in, let alone visit... California and New York being the first two that come to mind.

With that said, there are places in Europe I would not consider visting again, or ever living in... Italy and France.

One of the biggest factors I found with Europe is the weather. Weather is a huge factor in my happiness, which wipes most of the US and Europe. Europe is mostly overcast, with a few exceptions, and the winters suck.

Let's not even start going into the political or taxation issues. Which wipe out most of the US and Europe, faster than weather.

A lot of Americans think they rest of the world are a bunch of 3rd world countries where freedom doesnt excist.

Not one other group of people uses the word freedom as much as Americans. America simply isnt the only country where people are free and certainly not the most free country in the world yet most people think it is. At least i can admit America is a great country with some very nice places. Most Americans wont say anything similar ever in their lifetime about other countries.
Most of the rest of the world is a shithole. I have seen most of it, and I end up comparing all of these places to the USA, mainly Florida, and they end up failing most of the time. The place were they usually don't fail is their women.

I find the reverse of what you are saying. I have meant countless people, who have never left their country in Europe, let alone come to the United States, and they make wild assumptions. They continue to believe that the situation they live in is the right situation, how could it be any better elsewhere?

It's fallicious to take a personal experience and apply it to a situation the size of an entire nation. I doubt you have ever been to the south or any "red" state. If you have, then I doubt that you talked to many people while you were there. There are tons of people here who hold contempt and disdain for other cultures, believe them to be a waste of time and that their own culture and beliefs are the only ones worth anything.

I distinctly remember stating "everybody I have ever known". I don't give a crap what Bob in Kentucky thinks. I was simply showing Battuss that HIS WILD ASSUMPTION was exactly that, WILD.

Let me use another word besides freedom; Opportunity. People flock to the US in greater numbers than any other country because the US still has the greatest opportunity for someone to make something of themselves even if that person has very little resources.

1. Mexico is a very large country to get through.

2. Everyone in Mexico, Central America and South America (excluding Brazil) speak essentially the same language.

3. The culture in Mexico through Chili is all very similar. Not the same, but extremely similar. Most Americans couldn't tell you the difference between a cumbia and a merenge. There isn't much difference between them structurally. You have Caballeros in Baja and in Guatamala. Going through all those countries is almost like going through different states in America; more or less the same.

I was just having this discussion with someone the other night and I was the first to admit that in general, most Americans don't give a fuck what the rest of the world thinks about us, lol. This person was mentioning how outraged and dumbfounded his country and the rest of the world was about our elections, etc. I know that to be true, and of course some people do care, but I also know that most here haven't been losing any sleep about it. But regardless, I think most Americans do like to travel and see/experience other cultures.

I think you have to consider our geography. Of course Europeans are going to travel to more countries, experience more cultures, speak more languages, and be more aware of other nations. Look at the size and proximity of many of the European nations. If every time I got in my car or hopped a quick flight to Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, etc., I crossed over into a completely different culture and language, or if every time someone in Cali went to Nevada, Oregon, Arizona, they were doing the same, I'm sure we'd be much more culturally aware.

Likewise, if every European nation was required to take a flight across the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean to travel, I guarantee you the majority would never experience any life outside their own country. I think it's basic logistics and economics. Plus, many of you guys grow up bilingual and are taught other languages in school from the get go. For the most part, it's not required here because we have no reason/need for it. However, I think that is also true with most English speaking nations.

I have traveled through Europe and various other places. Even the places that I wasn't exactly wild about, were still worth visiting for the experience alone. I'm sure I could live in another country. However, I'd be a liar if I said it *really* concerned me or caused me worry, as far as what the rest of the world is thinking about us. Maybe that does make me an ass, afterall.
Very nice post.

I mean people just can't shut up about it.

I'm saying we've got about the same amount. Plenty of rich people here.

Can you tell me opportunities you have in Ameria that we don't?

We chose to trade that freedom for the freedom to live without gun violence. I'm glad we did. There is no need for any person living in a city in Australia to own a firearm.

The day the United States of Americas people calmn down is the day they will fall flat. Without the proud americans they will no longer be a super power. I dont think the nature is ready yet for that, and I dont think I want a change any way.

I like to look to the left on a map and see
the proud americans. With that said I still
prefer a life in europe. But without US the world
had been flat.

I know so many people from europe, India, and South America that think their countries is the best thing in the world...it's called being ethnocentric...most people have that with their countries and cultures...

Most people think their country is the "best in the world" and sometimes for very different reasons.

Sure some criminals have guns. So what?

The point is that it is extremely rare for an Australian to be a victim of gun violence.

Nobody here needs a gun for protection.

That is true freedom.

Only when it's accompanied by gross arrogance.

When was the last time you saw a "HOLLAND IS THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!!!!" thread?

Never.. because they don't start them.

Well, for me (and almost all of the US) to get to SA, you would have to cross the ocean. Logistically, driving down to SA from anywhere in the US is almost impossible. The gas and time required would be crazy. I've flown into Munich, then did a whole trip by car, hitting multiple countries. It was very manageable. At the end, we hopped a ferry from France to England and then flew home out of Heathrow. It would be fabulous if we could do something like that here.

If I could get to Rio in a day by car, I'd have already been there. I drove into Mexico once, if that counts for anything, lol.

Ok, so you view it as a trade off..

Kind of the same concept as the patriot act here in the USA

Not a good comparison.

The fact I can't own a firearm has no impact on my other civil rights. Police can't search my house for no reason etc.

The bottom line is that there is no reason for people in urban centres here to own a firearm. You do not need a firearm for protection in Australia. Farmers, however, need them for various reasons.

America was founded by Europeans, by people from my country for example. In general Europeans dont have that arrogance, i wonder where and when it wrong on your side of the planet...and why.
The first people that came to america was deeply religious. They thought that everyone that came to US ground was holy, picked from god.

Thats how it goes
