A "resignation" in this case simply means they don't care to go another 4 years in a high-stress job. Re-election was never certain, and it's common for lots of staff turnover at the halfway point.

Now, if people think this is suddenly going to change shit - they got another thing coming.

2257 was enacted by Congress. Do people come in here bitching about their local Representative or Senator? No, because their minds can't go past evil Bush and Ashcroft ... Somehow they think those two are specifically to blame, when that's clearly not the case.

And if John Kerry would have won, the Religious Right would have been all for porn!

Are you that stupid? Really, I'm asking. What is the purpose. What are the BENEFITS for these new regs? What benefit is all this new "record keeping"? What problem curently is going on in our biz that these new regs sovles? I will be HIGHLY surprised if you can come up with a well reasoned and coherent and intelligent answer. Remind me not to ever do business with you or any other pro-Ashcroft person.

Actually these new regs were proposed by the AG and do NOT need congressional approval. Just the approval of the AG. LOOK IT UP.

I don't think he's being pro 2257. I think he's just pointing out that it's not abolustely crippling. We will continue.

I don't think anyone's trying to say that Ashcroft was a good thing or that 2257 is a good thing. Some of us are just saying that cooler heads will be able to deal with issues like this much easier than those who skip right to panic mode.

just to clarify. i'm not anti-2257. the old regulations were fine. it's these new, proposed regulations that i find ridiculous.

you said efficient. i didn't. and yeah, it is fucking crippling because it's retroactive.
Then substitute efficient for thorough and complete.

As far as it being retroactive, it is pretty much how deep you want to interpret the regs. Yes, for questionable, hardcore content you might want to go ahead and dump it . . . but how crippling is it to update your content?

I'm not panicing. I jusyt hate hypocrisy. Repubs are for LESS government regualtion. Well WTF is this? Fuck 2257. I won't use any content except FHGs or none at all. I'm not responsible for record keeping. Fuck that BS. I go do non-porn fully if need be. You'd think repubs would want to make think EASIER for small business people. I guess we don't count.

hmmm, not that I have need to do business with you, but how the fuck did you get the impression that I am pro-A$hcr0ft?

See, that is one reason I really don't worry about doing business with you. I have read enough of your bullshit over the past few weeks to know that I am not losing a damn thing by losing your business.

Selling Sex has always been a shady industry.

I remember, not too long ago, there wasn't Internet porn. The video stores that rented adult videos tended to be in the dowtown core and isolated. Nobody wanted said video shop on their residential block. Many people wouldn't go in to a store like this.

Now Porn can be enjoyed from the safety of your own house. Nobody sees you rent it, nobody knows you wanked to it. And the people rejoiced.

What hasn't changed is they still don't want you selling it on their block. There are plenty of fine parents here on GFY. How many of them belong to their local PTA where everyone knows they are a pronographer? Not too many I'd wager.

At least half of the US appears to be quite conservative. They're not about to come out and stand up for our rights anytime soon.

for me? not hard at all, i don't buy that much content.

for producers who have been in this business for several years? i would imagine it to be hard as hell.

Okay, you ignoramous, where did anyone claim to be pro-2257? 2257 is a fact, nothing can be done about that. It has been around for years, and chances are it will remain, altered or not, for years to come.

The fact that I am not about to turn off my servers, shut down the pc, cancel my reservations to WAW and Internext does not mean I am pro-2257.

I simply refuse to let legalities get in my way of conducting business.

Do I have to change the way I do some thinigs? Yes, no doubt. Is it crippling my ability to make money? Not a fucking chance.

Well shit that's no good. Want to skip to calling each other names, then calling each other out? Then we can schedule a fight in Vegas and be done with it.

Actually, primary producers should already have most of the required info. It is the secondary producers (webmasters) that have potential issues.

As far as primary producers having content so old that they don't have 2257 on it, maybe it is time to bring out the camera.

Chicken Little was in the woods one day when an acorn fell on her head. It scared her so much she trembled all over. She shook so hard, half her feathers fell out.
Chicken Little: "Help! Help! The sky is falling! I have to go tell the king!"

I think the word is that Vegas won't allow it, so we might have to wait for the next Phoenix Forum.
